Frequent water changes.06 May 2004 13:04 GMT6
I'm fairly new to keeping goldfish, though growing up as a kid, my brother
and I bred Siamese fighting fish and Paradise fish and kept and bred all
sorts of tropicals as well, so I have a basic understanding of the
requirements.
200 GPH filter for a 10 Gallon tank?05 May 2004 22:21 GMT4
A few questions for you....I have two small goldfish in a 10 gallon
tank. ( 1 common and 1 comet that my children won at a fair recently)
I currently use a small old fashion corner filter. Although it seems
to be keeping the water clean, I want to upgrade to a power filter. I
equipment05 May 2004 16:20 GMT5
I'm thinking about getting a 125 gallon tank and am wondering what
sort of filter to get for it.  The biological load is pretty minimal
-- two GF and a koi, each about 7"-8" -- but I like to keep the water
clean.  The simplest option is probably two large Whispers, but I
Pothos and Philodendrons05 May 2004 14:07 GMT3
A new subscriber to the group here. I've been reading through the posts and
noticed reference to Pothos & Philodendron being placed in tanks. I've had a
look through Ingrids great website and through most of the posts here, but
cannot find the original article.
Moving with my comets05 May 2004 14:05 GMT3
We are moving about a block away. We have 2 comets in a 29 gallon tank.
One is 4 years old and about 8 inches long with tail and the other one
is only about 1 year old and about 6 inches long with tail. I would
appreciate any advice you have on the best way to move them. Should i
Dangerous Ornaments04 May 2004 19:59 GMT6
I want to create a functional ornament for my arquarium which houses two
goldfish.  What I want to do is glue various seashells to a plastic or metal
tube.  The ornament will be placed in the corner of the tank to hide an
air-stone and air-line.  My question is what material and ...

Yikes! Bio crash?04 May 2004 05:06 GMT5
Gosh, it seems like the fun never stops, eh?
This post started as a diary entry, and I decided it
might be useful to get the opinions of others here.
Last weekend, _two_ of my three tanks seemed to crash:
Tail Shredding Red Cap Oranda04 May 2004 04:59 GMT2
I have a 33 gallon, it's about 150%
overstocked (six 1.5" fish) I do a 30%
almost twice a week with dechlorated temp match
water. The smallest fish (a tiny red cap oranda
Signs of Illness04 May 2004 02:42 GMT10
Hi, I'm new to this group.  I am also new to caring for a goldfish.
My goldfish is getting black along the tip of his tail and fins.  He moves
around so fast, that's all I can tell! But it looks as if it is getting more
and more.  Does this mean he is sick or anything??  If so, what ...
Siamese Dolls03 May 2004 14:57 GMT10
Went into my aquarium store today (the "lesser" of two local ones) and
they had in stock a number of Siamese Dolls. Some were albinos with red
eyes and yellow-gold coloring. I got two fantail calico that have the
look of Ryukin. The thing is, these being for my 15H aquarium, I ...
NYT Mag article about goldfish vets03 May 2004 12:03 GMT1
In the New York Times Sunday Magazine today (5/2) was an article
called "Fixing Nemo" about fish vets.  The online version is at
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/05/02/magazine/02VETS.html
but you must register (free, but long form to fill) to access it.
YAY! I`m a dad!03 May 2004 01:45 GMT2
I got my goldfish to spawn! The combination of fixing them up in a nice warm
40 gallon tank in the living room and playing them Barry White has paid off
:)
I didn`t want too many of the little buggers so left the adults in the tank
White Spot (Ichty-something)??01 May 2004 15:43 GMT6
Our fish (fabtails) have developed white sugar-granule looking spots on
their tails. When the aquarium light is on, these spots are like fibre optic
light spots!
(1) Presumably this is white spot and not fungus.
