pigment loss31 Jul 2004 15:20 GMT2
I have two exuberantly healthy comets.  Or at least they
look like comets.  (I'm no expert.) They were sold to me
as feeder fish several years ago and now are about 7" long
and seem quite lively.

Have a 29 gal aquarium with 4 GF in it, they all started out about 1.5
inch size in Feb 'o4 and now the Shubukin is about 5 in. and the black
moor is as big as my fist and the two vail tails  almost as big. I had

Crack in filter :O27 Jul 2004 12:21 GMT5
Tonight I came home to find my Penguin 330 dripping water all over the floor.
Water water everywhere.
Took it apart looking for a crack, and found it right under where the biowheel
goes.
How Often to Feed?26 Jul 2004 08:58 GMT2
Today I was told by the fish store person that I should only feed fancy gold
fish every 5 days.  This was becuase I brouht back two fish that had died
within 24 hours of each other that I had bought10 days before along with
four other fish.
Dolomitic Limestone25 Jul 2004 16:37 GMT8
I had my PH crash and my Nitrates shot up. I think my biological filter got
killed by the low PH, because I'm fairly good about the cleaning. PH was
less than 5.5, KH was 0. Ammonia OK so far.
So I bought some Dolomitic Limestone to stablize my PH and Raise KH. I've
Best nitrate sucking plants25 Jul 2004 04:44 GMT10
I'm looking for the best Nitrate sucking (fastest growing) Goldfish
resistant plant there is. I'd like to reduce my nitrate levels in my tank.
I'm looking for a fast growing floating plant, that the Goldfish won't
devour. I did have Water Hyacinths over the winter, but the light ...

Greetings Goldfish Gurus
I have a black googly eyed fantail that is about five years old and male (as
far as I can tell from reading various faqs and articles).  About two months
ago some lighter colouring started to appear on some areas of its body, in

help, ill goldfish22 Jul 2004 15:47 GMT10
I currently have 2 goldfish and 1 fantail in a ten gallon tank.
They've been in the tank for about 5 months.  Everything's been fine
so far until yesterday.  Now all three just sit on the bottom of the
tank behind an ornament, one gf has his dorsal fin folded and cloudy

Goldfish PH20 Jul 2004 16:29 GMT19
I went to do my weekly water change and I thought the tank looked pretty
clean. So I decided to test the water and save myself some work. Woh, the PH
was in the basement (5.5-) and KH was non existent! The water out of the tap
is 7.5 PH with a KH of 140. So what caused the drop? ...

how fast do goldfish grow?19 Jul 2004 10:41 GMT2
Is this a "how long is a piece of string" question?
If I provide lots of room, a good diet and food water quality, how
quickly do they grow?
Goldfish with sand18 Jul 2004 19:28 GMT1
(Originally posted to .misc)
I know goldfish root around in the substrate & take gravel in their mouths
and then spit it out - I was wondering if anyone has any experience of using
sand as a substrate with goldfish. Is it always in suspension? Is it bad for
