82 degrees F ok?16 Oct 2004 22:07 GMT18
I finally put a thermometer on the side of the tank and it came in at 82 F.
I don't have a heater in the tank, just the powerheads and canister filters.
Is that ok or should I look into something to cool it down?  I've been
reading through the threads and it looks like I'm ...

who) He's also flashing a fair bit, there might be some of this fuzz tho
slightly finer on his body, I did the physical on him, gills ...

Heater Requirements15 Oct 2004 04:50 GMT8
I have a 40 gallon tank, and I want to get a heater for it.  Now that winter
is coming up, I want to keep it at 76 degrees.  Is there a wattage per
gallon suggestion?  Also, I have a taller than wide tank, I'm assuming this
is also a consideration?  I have adequate aeration, an ...

Can anyone tell me how to calculate how much 5.6 gallons of water weighs?
Pounds or kilos will do.
I just need to work out if my nice strong kitchen table is nice and strong
enough for my small treatment tank, lol.

Want to protect my goldfish pond from acting as a fish farm for the
herons. What size mesh should I use? Do not want it to be too visible so
what is the maximum/minimum size mesh?
trollls on this group14 Oct 2004 02:06 GMT5
Do I get the impression this group attracts more trolls than others? Is
it because trolls are less afraid to offend
rec.aquaria.freshwater.goldfish than say rec.guns.50bmg?

Feeding medicated food13 Oct 2004 05:09 GMT9
I had a problem with two of my goldfish staying at the top of the tank most
of the time, maybe looking for food, maybe eating bubbles, couldn't really
tell.  But, they were always there, unless it was feeding time.
I thought it might be bacterial, so I started giving them MediGold ...

I have one goldfish now about 11 cm or 4+inches. I've had him since he
was 1 inch long. Just moved him to a 10 gal tank from a 1½ gal tank.
Well,
he's pretty happy with his new digs and he looks like he's getting
Heaters?12 Oct 2004 00:45 GMT5
I hope people don't mind me posting all these questions.  It's really good
to find all these people who are also into GF....
So I have been wondering whether I should have a heater for my GF, esp. now
winter is drawing in.  Tank temperature seems to vary between just over 20

My apologies but I seem to be having a  senior moment here! Can someone
remind me how to calculate the  volume (UK measurements)  of a 6 sided tank
that has the dimensions 19" high with side lengths of 24" at the longest
length, then 2 x 8.5", 2 x 5", 1 x 19" (its a sort of ...
Atlanta Goldfish need new home...please help us11 Oct 2004 04:19 GMT1
We have four fancy goldfish that have grown so large that they have
overwhelmed the aquarium and we must find them a new home or they will
die. The largest is about 7 inches and smallest is about 4 inches.
They are happy and healthy but swimming in brown water in a 29 gal
Goldfish Acne10 Oct 2004 21:51 GMT2
Ok, so it's not Acne.
My largest GF has a white spot on his snout between his lips and his
nostril. It is white and appears to be loose skin. Is this a parasite or has
he been wrestling with the ornaments again? There is no sign of blood and he
Peas10 Oct 2004 15:55 GMT1
Do peas have a decent amount of nutritional value for goldies? I know
they're reccomended in case of swim bladder or constipation, but what
about for healthy fish?
My fish Bob seems to love them, and they're the only sinking food he's
