How to prevent brown algae on plants15 Jan 2005 21:02 GMT10
The fish and tank are doing well...apart from the plants.
Some plants have amounts of brown algae on them.
Looking like its making them sick.
How can I prevent this from happening ?
i'm new and need info please :)15 Jan 2005 02:53 GMT1
Hey guys
I'm new here but not to the hobby, I am researching the idea of opening a
lfs (local fish store) in my home town. I live in Australia and was
wondering if anyone out there was from Australia or knows any tropical fish
Killfiling people - names and/or addresses14 Jan 2005 12:45 GMT18
Dear Ponders.....
This is just to let you people know you can killfile others using either
their names or e-mail addresses in almost all newsreaders.   I am unaware of
any Usenet laws/rules that people must use the same e-mail address or even

When do goldfish become fully mature or become an adult?
Goldfish and peas10 Jan 2005 14:35 GMT11
OK, a dumb question - I have read that is a good thing to feed goldfish peas
on occasion. I assume these are green garden peas. How do you prepare them
for gf? Cooked or raw? Skinned or not? Whole or broken up? My gf aren't
large (2 inches or so) and have no health problems that ...

How much light for plantless tank?09 Jan 2005 19:40 GMT4
How much light (how many hours) should there be if ur GF tank doesn't
have any real plants? And about elodias, I've seen them being kept in
dark buckets in water for days and they were green as ever and grew
longer. So i was wondering if elodias need light at all or what?
What should I do to my SBD goldfish?09 Jan 2005 15:09 GMT9
My oranda as some of you might know has swimbladder problems. I really
think it's a genetic problem and cannot be cured because I have tried
all that starving-it-for-3-days stuff and then feeding it boiled peas
for the next 3 days (to let u know, i feed my orandas peas regularly).
The Eheim Ecco and GF09 Jan 2005 14:41 GMT7
I have a 50 gallon tank populated by two GF about 7"-8" long.  I've
recently moved into a situation where doing regular water changes has
become a lot more inconvenient.  My local fish supplies store advises
me to replace my current Whisper 3 with a Eheim Ecco 2236, on the
Adding new fish08 Jan 2005 23:58 GMT10
I have two tanks which I think should have a little 'headroom' to add a few
more fish.  Water parameters are excellent and I test and change water
regularly. I am considering small danios and/or black skirt tetras.  One
tank has 3 aeneus(sp) cories, 2 ottos and 3 Buenos Aires ...
Lethargic Goldfish?08 Jan 2005 21:56 GMT5
I'm hoping someone might be able to give me some advice please.
I've had Dillon for about 5 years. He's just a normal goldfish with a
fantail. He's in a 3ft tank (20gallons) on his own and I clean him
regularly. For the last few days he seems to be spending a lot of time on
In tank veggie filter08 Jan 2005 21:38 GMT5
I want to build a corral for my tank, so I can keep a few floating plants
safe from the nibblers. I was considering removing one of the glass covers
(24*18) and replacing it with a Plexiglas box (24*18*6) deep drilled with
multiple holes. I would put one of the filter returns inside ...
