Cleaning airstones29 Apr 2005 20:41 GMT4
Any advice on the best way to clean airstones?  We live in an area with very
hard water and airstones get blocked relatively quickly with limescale.
Is it OK to use vinegar - perhaps soak them in it overnight?  Most of the
household chemicals for limescale removal are very strong ...

For the first time in many years, I've had a tank crash.
Short version:  Established a USED tank in which I believed only water
turtles were kept, but turned out that rodents had been using it for
more than 5 years.  Set up tank, cycled beautifully, added 3 nice

raising pond fish indoors26 Apr 2005 19:29 GMT1
I've had a pond for several years with half a dozen Goldfish/Shubunkin
and a couple of Orfe. Each year I see lots of small fry in the
shallows but that's all I ever see, presumably they become tasty
morsels as they never make it through to the following year.
Bloated Betta, final update...26 Apr 2005 18:54 GMT6
Thanks VERY much to the two people that responded to my "should I starve
my betta" thread. :-)
Thanks to the very timely advice from "nippyfish", he is pretty much
back to normal now. I also did a water change in the tank for him.

Hi fishfriends,
I'm still having problems with finrot and mouth fungus, although it hasn't
got any worse over the last 5 days. I've been treating the tank and giving
the fish salt dips, but the problem just doesn't seem to clear up. I dipped

We just purchased a very small (1") calico fantail. I notice after I

this a problem? What should I do?  Thanks.
Feeding live brine shrimp...25 Apr 2005 13:32 GMT2
I purchased some brine shrimp eggs from the LFS today.
I checked a bit on line and it looks like a bit over 1 tsp. of sea salt
per 1 cup of water, with a pinch of baking soda?
Once the eggs hatch and I filter out the shrimp and add them to the
