lump on goldfish28 Feb 2006 14:00 GMT2
I have a goldfish that has developed a lump on the top/left side of its
head.  It appears to have a very thin white rim around it.  The fish is very
active and otherwise healthy.  Can you help me learn what this is, can my
other fish get it, and any remedy for this?
Why shouldn't mix GF with other fish?27 Feb 2006 04:24 GMT10
I have 3 questions about mixing fish:
Is it due to the toxicity GF spread in the water?
How about if you take care of the water condition with weekly water changes?
Are humans suceptible to fish diseases in any way?
sea salt in fresh water tanks26 Feb 2006 23:19 GMT4
I would very much appreciate help re the sea salt in fresh water issue.
Some of my babies have tail rot and I have been advised that besides
the antifugal dose I should add 300 grms of sea salt to my fresh water
tank.  It is 100 ltrs in size.  Can any body help.
Colour Loss in Comet26 Feb 2006 17:17 GMT5
Just wondering what could cause a major colour loss in a goldfish (comet) 2
nights ago one of my comets which I have had for about 4 years last lost
nearly all its colour. It is a pretty big comet nearly 20cm (8inches) in
length.
Sulking fish????25 Feb 2006 22:14 GMT17
Hi, I added my fourth and final goldfish to my 55g yesterday.  He seems
very happy and sooo at home.  My Ryukin has behaved very oddly since
his introduction.  She is just sitting in the middle of the tank.  She
is doing this of her own accord as fins look like they are moving
general goldfish question!17 Feb 2006 12:24 GMT2
I've noticed in the stores that most goldfish have "normal" eyes (a
dark center usually with a metallic ring around the outer edges) but
some (mostly calicos) have one or more "black" eyes without any outer
edges.  Are these "blind" eyes? or normal?  Thanks! Lisa
fish diseases13 Feb 2006 15:32 GMT2
I have had a 10G tank with 17 goldfish with no problems,  no diseases,  no
stress.
I recently got a 46G tank with the intention of getting clown fish but after
talking to the petstore I got discourage due to the high maintenance.
Fresh water - salt usuage13 Feb 2006 14:48 GMT5
Hi, I have a 55g fresh water tank with 3 goldfish.  I've heard about
the advantages of using salt in the water.  I have been using it in my
1g quaratine tank to help my sick black moor.  He now looks fantastic.
I am looking to use it now in the big tank as the nitrite part of the
Aquarium air-pumps - which are best?11 Feb 2006 21:55 GMT53
I'm so tired of buying airpumps that wear out in less than a year.  We
replace the diaphragms and flappers and the improvement is minimal.
Sometimes they're even worse!   Why is this?  There is no cigarette smoke in
the air and the house isn't dusty.  Can anyone recommend an air ...
Tail rot question08 Feb 2006 17:17 GMT24
Hi, just when everything seemed to going well with my new hobby, I get
to experience true worry with a fish.  Fortunatley, the fish in
question is in a 1 gallon tank awaiting the bigger tank to finish
cycling.  So glad that I decided to quarantine him for a couple of
Variety of goldfish food......07 Feb 2006 14:22 GMT10
Does everyone feed a large variety of GF food to their fish?  What are you
feeding them and how often?  I have a small basket I keep their food as it's
easy to carry from room to room.  In this basket I have:
Top Fin Tropical flakes.
Latest plea (Dying fish)(Fluke burden)05 Feb 2006 16:04 GMT4
Have done a couple of water changes (40%,  two days between) seems to
have livened the fish up but they still exhibit the "lying  on the
bottom 'cause it is too much hassle to swim about" behaviour but no
where near as much just noticed the fish have a white "dot" on a fin
correct salt level for goldfish?05 Feb 2006 16:03 GMT7
I have a 90 gallon tank with 10 fancy goldfish. It has been set up now for
more than a year and it is doing very well. Many years ago I worked in a
fish store, and the owner believed in adding non-iodized salt to all the
goldfish tanks. I don't know why, but he was a very ...
Quick question03 Feb 2006 16:10 GMT2
Sorry this question is sooo boring and probably been asked a hundred
times.  Well actually I have a couple of questions:-)
Firstly, ammonia, Nitrates and Nitrites have been the same readings for
1 week.  Amonnia is 0.5, Nitrites 0.25 and Nitrates 10.  Feels like I'm
