Crazy fish sucking at the filter30 Mar 2006 22:54 GMT3
My GF have suddenly started exhibiting strange behavour. As well as
grazing from the gravel on the bottom of the tank, they have started to
suck at the filter. It seemed harmless enough at first, but I've
recently noticed that my comet's lips seem quite badly distended now,

I'm an idiot - what would you do?26 Mar 2006 02:09 GMT29
I got excited today about a semi-mature redcap oranda.  It has long
veil-like fins and looked very curious and active in the display tank.
Only now at home I see the water in the bag was nasty and yellowish.
Like a moron I say, hey I should test it for kicks- then forgot.
fish dying24 Mar 2006 16:48 GMT2
Ok, I need help.  I am down to 4 little fishes from 21.  I just built a
large pond about 3500 gallons.  I used 45 mil edpm for a liner, have
added a waterfall, and have a 5900gph pump.  I got instructions from
another group on an idea for a filter.  Basically, it is a plastic milk

What would some of you experts recommend for a completely
submersible/internal filter for a 20gal long GF tank?
Fluval Plus?
Marineland Duetto?
Tank water cleanliness22 Mar 2006 23:52 GMT13
I've recently purchansed a tinly little 11 litre (about 2.5 Gallon I think)
tank for 2 goldfish. It came with a little filter which obviously isn't
doing a great job as the water gets cloudy after about 3 days, after a week
it's quite murky - still see through, but not pleasant ...
Calico Lionheads :-)))21 Mar 2006 19:01 GMT4
After months of looking I finally found a tank of them.  Nowhere else but
....*GASP*.... Wally World.  They just finished putting the new fish in the
tanks when I sallied forth into their pet dept.  Lo and behold, CALICO
LIONHEADS!  I snapped up the best 4 of those critters for $4 ...
Gravel, ornaments17 Mar 2006 06:49 GMT14
Greetings Goldfish Gurus,
I've kept goldfish now for about 15 years, and always used regular
aquarium gravel.  Now, however, I am getting frustrated with the fact that
cleaning it out is always such a hassel.  Just wondering what others use
Dead Chebunkin16 Mar 2006 04:02 GMT4
Can anyone offer a word of advice please? One of my Chebunkin has died and
another is showing sins of distress although I cannot see any obvious signs
of damage. The only clue I can offer is that the dead fish looked and felt
as if all the scales had been removed. The skin was ...
Fry Feeding Schedule14 Mar 2006 19:57 GMT1
Thank you to Charles and Koi-Lo who replied to my last post.  My fry hatched
last Thursday (9th March) and are now swimming around in there tank.  I have
used a sponge filter which is air driven.  I have been feeding Liquifry to
them.  I have also purchased a Micro Worm culture.
Breeding - Taken by Surprise09 Mar 2006 00:56 GMT4
On Monday I was taken by surprise when early afternoon I noticed a number of
eggs in my tank, and all 3 goldfish taking part in the mating routine of
chasing the only female.   In the tank are 3 goldfish, 1 female Shubunkin, 1
male Comet Goldfish, and 1 Oranda.

Chinese Algae Eater & Koi/GF05 Mar 2006 15:07 GMT4
Has anyone ever introduced a Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri)
into a pond? with koi and goldfish? According to a few websites, they are
herbivores, but apparently develop a taste for small fish as they grow
larger and are fairly territorial.
