When setting up a tank and you get to the lighting bit you get a choice of
bulb to use. I think they are tropical or freshwater. Which one deters the
typical green tinge to the water and ornaments.

where are all the newbies.....hmm........amazing its juts Carol, her
socks and very very few old timers or newbies.....just an occasional

Sick Fish - peeling lips10 Feb 2007 01:42 GMT17
I have a goldfish that has been doing ok for over a year. She is about 10"
long. Suddenly she is having problems with the skin on her lips peeling off.
I know it irritates her, as she is having periods of thrashing about, trying
to dislodge the loose pieces. Her slime coat seems ok, ...

young goldfish defect09 Feb 2007 01:47 GMT3
Defect may not be the correct word (depends on your outlook maybe).
I have a young goldfish (< 1 year) which, as best as I can tell, has its
intestine sticking out of its butt about a cm.  Not sure when this
happened, but it has been noticable for about a month or so.  Apart from

Help - sick goldfish07 Feb 2007 21:15 GMT27
Hi, my daughter has an 11-year-old orange-and-white goldfish (feeder
type, not koi) who seems to be on his last...fins.  He has been
sleeping tail-up between regular activity periods, and now she says
his whole rear end is red.  He has no fungus or rot symptoms, and has
Plants05 Feb 2007 01:22 GMT5
I have enjoyed putting live plants in our 55 gallon aquarium.  The aquarium
gets no sunlight though and the plants only seem to last 2-3 months.
Luckily we have a 10 gallon tank pretty much right in the sunlight, so I
move them to the smaller tank when they get to looking bad and ...
carp/koi in a tank?04 Feb 2007 22:49 GMT17
I used to keep goldfish, but I no longer have them. I am thinking of
putting carp or koi in a 10 gal tank. Maybe only a small one, or up to
3 small ones. Is that ok? Or are they strictly for ponds?
I know this may not be the forum, but are carp or koi ok if it's a feng
Underwater filter03 Feb 2007 15:23 GMT25
I have a 10gal tank and have been using a mini filter for many years
now - the type that hangs on the side of the tank. It needs to be
changed and I am wondering about changing to an underwater filter.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Or suggestions etc.?
