The packs that I've seen on sale come in different sizes & look like small,
white bricks .... although some
are circular / coin shaped.   It seems that the sizes depend upon how long
you are away from the tank,
Nitrite issues28 Sep 2007 16:11 GMT2
My tank has been cycling for some time now and it looks like I'm finally in
the home stretch--ammonia down to zero, Nitrite having recently dropped from
2 ppm to 0.5 ppm--but things seem to be stalled there.  It's been 12 days
since ammonia dropped to zero and five since nitrite ...
Dave's goldfish   -Goldie is doing fine recovering from dropsy28 Sep 2007 14:14 GMT1
OK,  its been a week since my last update.
To briefly recap, one of my goldfish ("goldie", a fantail)  got a very
bad case of  pop-eye around mid-august.  A  severe case of dropsy
appeared overnight in early September.  See past  posts  for more

Have had three large green spider plant babies in the freshwater aquarium
for 3.5 weeks and they are very green and growing.
Does anyone know how much longer they will last completely submerged like

First,  could you recommend a good aquarium heater?  I've used 2
different ones:  one made by Cascade and the other by Tetra (Whisper).
Are these brands reliable, or are there better ones.?
Secondly, I've got 3 different thermometers.  They are all cheap
Dave's goldfish:   past 24 hours is amazing19 Sep 2007 18:49 GMT3
Tonight the swelling is almost gone, and the pineconing is completely
gone.
It's amazing how fast the change has been.  Last night she was a
blimp with severe pineconing.  This morning a definite change was
Sick Goldfish18 Sep 2007 16:37 GMT16
Hi there. I have a very sick goldfish on my hands and I'm not sure what I'm
doing to treat her is correct. A couple days ago I noticed she was kind of
just laying around her tank and then I noticed some white spots on the base
of her tail. I looked around online and found some ...
Dave's Goldfish  -hopefully, good news18 Sep 2007 16:36 GMT1
I hope I'm not jinxing anything by sending  this  post.
Goldie appears to be recovering.  This morning the
swelling/bloating had definitely gone down some, although she is
still a  blimp.  And I think  the pineconing  has reduced some.
turd Tristie ...  aka  "TYNKS Headache"17 Sep 2007 23:00 GMT2
Good news for regs.
The immature turd  ( otocinc@yahoo.com )  DOES serve a purpose in life,

Dave's goldfish still hanging in there  (dropsy)17 Sep 2007 14:01 GMT2
Not much change in the past couple days.
 Still very bloated with  pineconing.
But she is still eating and pooping.
Ammonia, nitrites and nitrates still ok.
Goldfish lost co-ordination & turned silver.14 Sep 2007 21:15 GMT8
Can anyone diagnose what is exactly wrong with one of our goldfish.
1 of our 15 fish is showing some wierd behaviour.  About 2

Update on goldfish  with dropsy11 Sep 2007 04:35 GMT3
"Goldie"  is still hanging in there.
I've  got her in her own separate tank, and she has adapted ok.
She is very swollen with the scales  still sticking out.
I have the water temp at a constant 86-87 degrees.   I could not
