Visible blood vessels in tail30 Oct 2007 16:04 GMT8
When I got home from my recent business trip (1 week in Japan) and had the
energy to look at the fish in detail I noticed that Hoshi has a couple of
visible blood vessels in his caudal fin.
Hoshi is a sarasa comet, about 5" long, all white except for an orange spot

cloudy water !!! ???20 Oct 2007 22:49 GMT8
I have a 65 gal tank with Ehiem Pro filter. The water was crystal
clear until I had to move the aquarium to a new house.
Each month I would replace the very top filter and charcoal pad. Each
week I vacuum the gravel  and remove nearly one third the water and
Please identify possible diseases19 Oct 2007 19:49 GMT7
I have two common goldfish for more than 4 years. Please check the

Goldfish growth15 Oct 2007 11:18 GMT1
My wife swears up and down that our goldfish Mika-chan (currently about 2
1/2" long) and Hoshi (currently about 4 1/2" long) have grown noticeably
since we got them (Aug 19 for Mika-chan, Sep 1 for Hoshi).  I don't see it
myself.  Is it reasonable to expect Goldfisn in that size ...
Missing scales14 Oct 2007 18:01 GMT3
Hoshi is missing a couple of scales.  This isn't anything new, its just that
I've generally had other stuff to worry about so I haven't brought it up
before.
Question is, do lost scales (due to injury or whatever) grow back or will
Lighting for planted goldfish aquarium09 Oct 2007 15:07 GMT3
One thing I've noticed in my research is that different plants that one
might include in an aquarium require different amounts of light.  The usual
measure is "watts per gallon" which strikes me as a rather shaky measure
since it produces different light intensities for a wide, ...
lettuce ?09 Oct 2007 00:15 GMT4
I read ( a while ago )  on a goldfish keeper's website, that finely chopped
lettuce is
a good alternative to the regular *flake* type food.
I tried it tonight & every tiny piece of lettuce was consumed within
My Goldfish Died!09 Oct 2007 00:11 GMT4
But why?   The fish was a fairly standard goldfish with a nice comet type
tail.  It was about two years old and shared an 18x12x12 tank with 5
Whitecloud.   I've been feeding with Tetrafin.
The goldfish "jerome"  has never exhibited any disease symptoms,  no

It appears that there was a *Zebulon* here, long time ago.
