pregnant guinea pigs. . . 31 Aug 2003 22:08 GMT1
I have a stupid question.  For those who had guinea pigs, after the female
gets pregnant and is away from the male, is that the only time she'll have a
baby or 2?   I didn't know if they were like hampsters......
I had a pair of dwarf hamsters.  after the first litter was found, i

Daft Piggies29 Aug 2003 18:01 GMT3
I've owned guineas in the past and have recently bought one for my kids.
Speedy - so called cos he runs away all the time, very fast!  He doesn't
seem to mind being handled when we do catch him.  I have had to move him
into a pen with one of my rabbits as he wasn't getting on with ...

much better. her last lot of Baytril was given on friday night. But since

guinnea pig died, dont know why28 Aug 2003 19:06 GMT3
Had a two year old long haired silky that got very sick. For a week he would
not  poop. Then he quit eating or drinking. So realizing it wasn't something
that I was able to help him with I took him to the vet. I guess the handling
and trip just took too much out of him. The vet ...
wanna be owner here with a question27 Aug 2003 23:04 GMT2
I'm gonna get a guinea pig - yippee!!  I'm doing all kinds of research here on
the net, I learned about C&C cages and what to feed them, yadda, yadda.  If you
have any sources that are your favorites, I'd love to read it.
There is a guinea pig rescue coming to our area in October, ...
playpen24 Aug 2003 04:45 GMT1
I went to walmart yesterday and found a play pen for small animals.
I hooked the playpen around the doorway of their cage, so it's like they
have a little yard in front of the house. This should tide them over
until I can build their C&C cage. I left one of those large water bubble
How High Can Cavies Jump?23 Aug 2003 09:30 GMT10
When our late Cowrie was only a couple of months old, my wife said that he
jumped OVER the cardboard "bull ring" we constructed for his exercise.  The
wall was about 10 inches high.  One moment, he was inside the ring, the
next, he was outside!  I missed the jump (obviously), but ...
Titch update22 Aug 2003 22:36 GMT1
Thank you very much to everyone who replied to my message (Help).
Titch is now eating lots, we are also feeding her one lot of critical care
herbivore every evening (she doesn't like us feeding her) and she is getting
a dose of Baytril every evening. Last night she wheeked at me ...

Rat wire21 Aug 2003 19:47 GMT4
My husband had a cheapo idea, that doesn't sound too bad.
Apparently, You can get 100 feet of something called 'rat wire'
to put under your house to block out rats. It is shaped like a
grid, so it's not just wire. And it's bendable.
GP - how 'intelligent,?21 Aug 2003 17:40 GMT3
I am thinking of having a GP and on reading webpages about
them, there are occasional references to their level
of intelligence, but this invariably simply says they are 'not
as intelligent as rats'.
Help21 Aug 2003 05:01 GMT4
I wrote a message here not too long ago called 'help'. It was about my poor
little piggy called Titch, she could not eat and we had been syringe feeding
her for about a month. During this time she had a dental done at the vets
which did not really help she was loosing about 10 - 20 ...

cage style17 Aug 2003 11:38 GMT1
I have discovered cavycages.com so I am building one of those, but I saw
something else on another page I was curious about.
It was a stackable cages, that looked a lot like a shelf of drawers. I
thought if anyone had a few of those, maybe they could help out a rescue
