We have a 7 yr old GP and my daughter wants to get an up ear Rabbit. I heard you can't have the GP and rabbit together in the same play area? I heard the rabbit will hurt the GP? Can the rabbit eat the GP grain food or is it the opposite the GP can eat rabbit food? I know rabbits ...

| Something wrong? | 16 Dec 2003 04:24 GMT | 9 |
My 3 yrs old male GP is sitting in a corner making high, fast, squeeky sounds like i've never hears before. What could be wrong? He looks kinda frightned. I gave them some hay half an hour ago, and he started running around making some funny moves. 20 mins later he started doing ...

| Bald spot | 16 Dec 2003 02:56 GMT | 4 |
My daughter's pig, Nicky has one bald spot on his back. It seems he is nipping at that area with his teeth. What could the causes be, how can I ID (or at least narrow down) the problem. I realize ther may not be much I can do to fix the problem until I figure out it's root cause.

| Cleaning cage | 15 Dec 2003 06:15 GMT | 2 |
Is lemon cleaner okay on the cage? I haven't been using anything to clean out Princess' cage besides elbow grease to scrape out any wet-through shavings, but I'm thinking that once a month it would probably be a good idea to 'sterilize' the plastic...

| Those stupid vitamin C tablets | 14 Dec 2003 07:47 GMT | 2 |
Princess is being a pain. I thought I'd try grinding up the tablets and coating her pear in the dust last night, like how whoever it was said he did with romaine lettuce. So I cut up the pear half into small cubes. Well, um, she's apparently "gone off" pears. She ate about half ...

| New Pigs for the Kids | 13 Dec 2003 17:52 GMT | 2 |
We are about as brand-new as you can be to guinea pigs. My 9-year-old daughter requested one for Xmas so we had her research guinea pigs (a little trickery on our part to get her to practice her research skills for school...) and, after her efforts, decided to get her two males, ...

| Rochester, NY wants a new pig | 13 Dec 2003 06:20 GMT | 1 |
Hi. As the subject suggests, I live near Rochester, NY and am trying to locate someone locally with guinea pigs for sale. I'd rather not buy one from the pet store. Not looking for anything fancy. I have a one-year old who could use a playmate. We like our Gwennie-pig so much ...

| Monster's Eye | 12 Dec 2003 11:47 GMT | 6 |
Monster has his left eye half closed most of the time. What could this be? I see no damage or hay stuck anywhere!

| its me the schizo again | 12 Dec 2003 11:45 GMT | 8 |
Okay, now that I have made the decision, and he is off to be neutered... I have one more thought. I was thinking that when he got home, maybe it would be best to put him back home, so he would feel .."I'm home it's over!"

| Back from the vet | 12 Dec 2003 04:17 GMT | 1 |
I picked him up from the vet today, and put him on his side of the fence for a while. I'm not sure why he should be alone, but I've heard somewhere he shouldn't be with other pigs.

| Thirsty Pigs | 12 Dec 2003 02:47 GMT | 11 |
Just wondering how much the average G.P. on this group drinks (water, not beer : ) ). Mine seem to drink just about non-stop. And of course it all comes out the other end, and gets very smelly very fast... So how much do your pigs drink?

I called my mom today, and gave her the word to pick up Arthur for me, and take him to the vet. He is going to be nuetered. I hope they realy do know what they are doing.

| Sick pregnant piggie | 10 Dec 2003 22:31 GMT | 2 |
My sow Toffee is 14 months old and pregnant with her third litter (her last was born in June). She is very heavily pregnant and today has not eaten and is not passing water or solids. She has been to the vet this afternoon and she is well hydrated - apparently sometimes sows do go ...

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house The guinea pigs were sleeping, as quiet as a mouse Their tiny mugs were sitting on the mantle with care In hopes that someone would remember them there.
