new guinea pig shyness09 Feb 2004 09:16 GMT7
I bought my very first guinea pig from Petco as a pet for me and my
daughter 2 weeks ago to replace a hamster that passed away.  It's a
male named Rusty and I think he is about 2-3 months old.  He has been
a delight so far, although a bit more care than I had expected (I
age for neutering little boy08 Feb 2004 21:23 GMT9
We saw a young boy pig at the pet store who had a badly infected eye.  We
were thinking about maybe taking him because nobody will want him.  But we
have 2 girl pigs.  Our playpen is big enough for 3 pigs, but we would have
to neuter the boy before we introduce into the playpen.
Hi..Dora and Abby and Friends08 Feb 2004 04:43 GMT1
Hi.  Donna here.  I've been reading but this is my first post.  I'm from
Toronto, Ontario area.  I started with a hamster (Sammy), added Dora and
Abby (GP's), gave them a bigger cage and then used their old cage for the
new addition Benjamin (Degu). My son gets upset when I call his ...
Help: Beall is ill07 Feb 2004 22:59 GMT3
Mum and Dad have brought Beall and Hattie to visit me (partly for
mybirthday) but more importantly because Beall ha a lump on her back.  I've
had a good look at it and it doesn't appear discoloured, scabbed or
otherwise ruptured.  It is about 1/2 cm in diameter and doesn't seem to ...
Newbie: Itchy piggals05 Feb 2004 11:19 GMT1
We are having a bit of an itchy problem with our GPs.  We are spraying them
with an anti mite spray which appears to temporaily work.  Was wondering
what you all use to try and get rid of this problem...
Any help appreciated
Crazy crazy05 Feb 2004 03:05 GMT6
Whenever I come home these days, it seems like Princess has undertaken a
redecoration of her cage.  Which isn't a big deal, but these
redecorations generally mean that she has turned her igloo either upside
down or on its side.  So I have to flip it back again for her.
Return of the algae04 Feb 2004 17:50 GMT6
The use of rice to remove algae from the piggies' water bottles works well.
But the algae returns quite quickly.  I find that a scrubbing with rice
followed by a quick rinse with H2O2 to kill off what algae might remain
works best.  And since H2O2 is highly water soluable it can be ...

Sick pig02 Feb 2004 09:15 GMT8
My 5-year-old sow is sick for the first time, any advice [before I take her
to a vet on Monday] appreciated.
Over the past several weeks she had a stomach/bowel problem: pellets she
produced were no longer of their former smooth shape. Rather pasty, not
Prepared Foods....01 Feb 2004 00:40 GMT10
Iv'e bought all types / brands of prepared guinea pig foods.....Pokey
picks out what he wants and leaves the rest. Is there a brand of
prepared food out there better than the rest, or piggies just fussie
eaters? Some like this while others like that. Got enough grub for 5
Cage Bedding01 Feb 2004 00:29 GMT3
I just cleaned Princess' cage, and used up the last of the Aspen
shavings I've been using.
I've noticed that she mainly uses two corners as a bathroom, and I would
like to put something in the bathroom corners to make cleanup easier.  I
