Broken nail - and bleeding.....16 Aug 2004 08:29 GMT5
....tell me this shouldn't be a problem.  Whilst I was transferring George
from the hutch to the outside run, I snagged a back claw on the outside cage
as I was placing him down on the grass.  The claw broke off leaving about
0.5cm of claw left, and it bled for quite a bit.  I ...
Food question12 Aug 2004 12:05 GMT2
I have rather a lot of radishes at the moment and wondered if they are safe
for piggies?  Fudge usually will try new things eventually so would probably
be a help in using them up if they are safe.
I acn't wait to get home on Sunday and see the other eight piggies :-)  I
Update on Kassandra09 Aug 2004 22:52 GMT4
Kassandra had her bladder stone removed last Tuesday. She was very groggy
from the medication, so I had to leave her at the vet's overnight. When I
picked her up Wednesday afternoon, she was still sitting in a corner, barely
moving, not interested in food or drink. After some ...
Stupid but painfully obvious question, maybe?08 Aug 2004 01:25 GMT9
Everything you read says that the pine/cedar type beddings are not good for
Guinea Pigs, rabbits, etc.  Do I dare ask, then WHY DO THEY MAKE THIS STUFF AT
ALL?
It's probably a stupidly obvious answer that I overlooked.  ????

Keeping a cage tidy!08 Aug 2004 00:17 GMT5
I love my piggies, but they are sooooooooooo messy!  I have tried & tried &
tried different things to keep the cage clean & tidy, but it seems like it's
always a mess.  Can anyone give me any tried & true tips to keep the cage
looking good all the time?  The problem seems to be that ...
Eye injury in piggy - help needed04 Aug 2004 20:56 GMT5
I'm new to the group, though have had piggies for most of my life (I'm
32) and from the UK.  My piggy is a 5-year-old Himalayan called
Forrest.  I've just been to see her, and she had a large husk of hay
embedded in the corner of her left eye.  The lid is red and inflamed,
nose bleed04 Aug 2004 10:32 GMT1
Hi can anyone help, we have 2 guinea pigs, both males, both in same cage.
One has suffered with mites, which we have now been assured have been
cleared up. The worrying thing is that this one is having fits, and a
blood-like discharge around his nose. The vet told us he would be ok, ...
Meet... Bracken03 Aug 2004 23:44 GMT1
Well, today we got our rescue girl.  She was found wandering by someone out
walking on a dirt track and handed in to our local rescue centre.  Picture
(soon to be pictures plural) can be found on:
http://community.webshots.com/user/daftscotslass under folder named Bracken.
Remembering Quinn (very long)03 Aug 2004 22:20 GMT9
Dear Group,
I lost Quinn today.  I am writing this more for myself because I want to
straighten things out in my mind.  You don't have to read this since it is
quite long.  It's just something I need to do to put Quinn to rest.  He is
Kassandra's got a bladder stone!03 Aug 2004 16:15 GMT1
Today I could  *finally* take Kassandra to the vet for her x-ray, and it's
definitely a bladder stone. Not a small one, either. Poor piggie. She cries
everytime she has to pee (and poop, the last day or so). There's still blood
in her urine. She's still on antibiotics and the vet ...
British GP owners - don't let them bake in their hutches02 Aug 2004 10:39 GMT1
With the recent very warm weather in the UK at the moment, can I please
remind GP owners to ensure that their little squeekers are adequately
ventilated and don't bake in thier hutches.  I know I'm probably preaching
to the converted here but I need to say it.
Soon to be new addition...01 Aug 2004 21:00 GMT2
I lost one of my hamsters to wet tail after a trip to the vets and two
nights of no sleep during the week.  I made up my mind I wouldn't be doing
any "rescuing" of animals from pet shops and went to my local rescue centre
yesterday (Scottish SPCA).
