bald patch30 Sep 2006 02:05 GMT6
We have just discovered a bald and broken  patch on our new baby guinea pig
back leg/flank.  It is perfectly round about the size of a penny and has
some broken skin on it.  It is also slightly rough and scabby. We nocticed
another tiny patch on the other side of her but nearer ...

Should I try a big mac and coke?29 Sep 2006 03:10 GMT8
My pigs' response to unfamiliar food interests me. Chuckles, who is old and
wise will chomp into almost anything new, but Piggles, who is young (and
foolish) and pretends to be a tough guy has to smell it, taste a little,
bump it with its' nose, study it, think about it, go and see ...
A guinea pig with allergies?28 Sep 2006 02:46 GMT13
I have a satin American guinea pig who is not yet a year old.  After a
few months, she was itching and biting her back, to the point that she
had lost hair in the shape of a "v."  I was told that she must be
allergic to her pine shavings.  I cleaned the heck out of the cage and

Hello26 Sep 2006 02:39 GMT4
Hello. I've never posted to this newsgroup before, but I just have to now.
My guinea pig Wallace had two babies this morning. I've never had guinea
pigs before and I got Wallace about a month a go so I hope I know what I'm
doing with taking care of them.

E. Coli scare with spinach, guinea pigs22 Sep 2006 02:45 GMT3
In the last few days in the US, there's been a big scare over raw spinach
and e coli contamination. All commercial bags of spinach have been recalled.
Consumers are supposed to throw away any bags of spinach they have around
the house.
best way to clean poops!20 Sep 2006 22:25 GMT4
This seems like a silly question, but it isn't so silly to me.  I am picky
about my piggies cage and want to keep it as clean as I can.  The two of
my girls seem to turd all over and quickly.  I have read they are not
easily litter trained...What is the easiest method of "spot ...
Piggy potions - Peter Gurney17 Sep 2006 08:22 GMT1
Do any of you have a book called Piggy Potions by Peter Gurney? I know
that Peter is the guru of anything guinea pig related, just wondered if
any of you have found the book useful?
I'm always suspicious of giving my guineas any 'human' treatments but

elderly male piggie, dislocated hip?14 Sep 2006 21:47 GMT6
My 8+ years old neutered male looks like he has a dislocated hip. He
doesn't seem to be in any pain, is is usual demanding, high strung self.
He's limping on the one side. He's also become very skinny in the last
year. He's a pile of bones despite eating constantly. We give him ...
A nice clean bed11 Sep 2006 13:10 GMT1
Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that Harvey is not
underweight. he is not the perfect size. Maybe it's because oxbow is now
available here. Before I had to use Hagen pellets which are alfafa based.
Maybe the problem is with Kiki. She has such a huge belly. The veggies ...
