And this little piggy...29 Oct 2006 08:22 GMT12
I have an adult male guinea pig that seems to enjoy chewing on his
cage incessantly.  I've added so many things in his cage to chew on
and play with that there really isn't room for the piggy any more.
His cage is 30"x17".  In back left corner is a medium wooden house.

Dry skin on feet25 Oct 2006 22:10 GMT4
Know this isn't anything to worry about, but just wondering whether any
of your guineas have this.
All three of mine, one more so than the other two, have dry skin
hanging off from the edges of the soft pads of their feet. I've read
Guineas only eat cucumbers25 Oct 2006 12:09 GMT11
I think I have spoiled them, they love cucumbers so I have been giving
them 2 to 3 cucumbers per week, now they only eat cucumbers, if I don't,
they will cry out until I bring them a few slices, they are not even
eating the packaged food(don't really blame them, I wouldn't want ...
Dominance Behavior?24 Oct 2006 20:06 GMT4
Gabby was very wet with pee yesterday, covering her entire rear end
right up to her back.  It was such that she could not have done it to
herself.   I gave her a bath and got her dry, and within a half hour
she already had a big pee spot on her side again.  I cleaned her again,

Help!!21 Oct 2006 16:31 GMT4
I took Tallulah to the vets on Tuesday as she had cystitis. She was
given a oxymycin injection.
I warned the vet that she was allergic to baytril and nearly died from
straining and passing blood, so he gave her this instead. I'm now
Sticky Eye20 Oct 2006 22:21 GMT4
we bought two baby guinea pigs on friday, and one of them has developed
a "sticky/gummy eye"
This morning his eye was closed, and crusty until he woke up.
His eye is now open, but not as fully as the other eye.

What are 3 on the main things you know that your pigs love and knows it
is not bad for them at all.
Urinating and drinking...19 Oct 2006 21:58 GMT3
My guinea Tallulah seems to be urinating and drinking extremely
frequently. This is mainly in the evenings though. She sleeps more
during the day, but from 5pm onwards and later into the night she
drinks, eats a little, then urinates, over and over!! She seems to
RIP Jojo, and Gabby Needs a Buddy17 Oct 2006 00:49 GMT14
Hi, All,
I haven't been here in a loooooooong time.
I lost Jojo yesterday to a brain tumor, poor little guy.  He was his
usual cheerful self right to the end, and he passed peacefully in my
How long to quarantine before introducing 2 new piggies to the others?16 Oct 2006 01:00 GMT7

be in a separate cage.

Small Pig Escapes from One Cage, but not Another???15 Oct 2006 02:07 GMT1
we put our new piggies in a holding cage while we cleaned their cage
made of the metal cubes you use to build enclosures. she
squirmed thru the 1.5 inch square and got out repeatedly.  the space
btwn the bars on their regular cage is the same dimensions but in the
toe nail clipping14 Oct 2006 10:28 GMT4
My two piggie girls are still very young, I am guessing about 4-6 months
old.  I recently clipped just their back toe nails.  I didn't do the
fronts, as they didn't seem that long yet.  How old should the pig be to
begin nail clipping, and do the back toe nails grow quicker?  How ...
