| What's the problem? | 28 Oct 2003 07:45 GMT | 17 |
Hihi everyone... I used to have 2 winter white mottled (heard its a cross? anyway, that's not the focus). Called them Picca (male) and Hammy (female). Hammy died suddenly, with no appearent reason. No wounds, no injuries, no rashes. Just

| Hibernating Hamsters??? | 27 Oct 2003 23:39 GMT | 10 |
We have several Syrian hammies that seem to be dropping dead (4 in the past 2 days). They were apparently healthy and young (under 6 months). Now I read that hammies can hibernate, esp. when the room temp drops? Has anyone has this happen in their hams? We picked up one of the two ...

| People with allergies | 27 Oct 2003 19:57 GMT | 8 |
Does anybody in here have family members who suffer allergies around their little friends? My mum seems to suffer whenever she spends a short while in my room. We think perhaps it is the wood shavings so wondered if anyone else has had a similiar problem?

| Let me out!!!!! | 27 Oct 2003 04:25 GMT | 9 |
As I type this message I can hear my hammy rattling his cage bars, frantically trying to get out-he does this every night and he gets really quite noisy! He runs up and down his ramp, pounds the bars, chews the bars, and stares at

| Got new hamster! | 26 Oct 2003 22:14 GMT | 5 |
I've just bought a new hamster to succeed Willow. He's a beige and white long-haired Syrian with red eyes, absolutely gorgeous. I hope he's alright though, when he went into the tank he just sniffed around for a minute then went to sleep in the corner. I don't remember Jeri, Sab ...

| RIP Tulip - 04/03 to 10/23/03 | 26 Oct 2003 01:44 GMT | 7 |
Sadly, we've lost another ham within just a day of losing Storm. Tulip was his sister, and passed quickly once we noticed she was not herself. She seemed to be in a similar state that Storm had been in, but not exactly.

| Constant scratching and itching | 25 Oct 2003 08:06 GMT | 6 |
Hello, we just got our hamster last week and one thing I noticed poor animal constantly scratches. We use dust free bedding and I have examined it's fur for lice, but did not find anything unusual. What could be causing this? Short of going to the vet is there anything we

| Any Advice | 25 Oct 2003 07:34 GMT | 2 |
I have an 8 month old hamster (Stuart) who is handled everyday by two of my boys. My question is that the family is going away on a vacation for 2 weeks with my mother taking care of Stuart during that time. As my mother is afraid that he will escape, she does not want to handle ...

| Nutcase has gone | 24 Oct 2003 08:45 GMT | 9 |
After beginning to recover from his abcess, Nutcase deteriorated quite rapidly over the weekend, and although we nursed him, fed him and generally looked after him the best we could, his little body was already very tired from fighting the abcess and last night he went to

| nesting | 24 Oct 2003 03:06 GMT | 9 |
I have two dwarf siberians and have a question(for about a week). Flash, the slightly albino hamm, has taken to filling their running wheel (enclosed on top of the habitat) with bedding and food. Some relatives think he is the male and he is nesting in preparation of

| Hello All - First Post. | 24 Oct 2003 02:55 GMT | 5 |
I've been browsing this news group for a while, but thought I'd post a message. I bought my 6 years old daughter a hamster. To be honest, I think I spend more time with it.

| Play cages | 24 Oct 2003 02:48 GMT | 2 |
Ok, I think that I know the answer to this one. Is it all right if I had a cage / pen that I could use for both of my hamsters without changing the bedding each time I put 1 in? Because I want to have a play thing for my hamsters but I don't want to change the bedding each time I ...

| Question: A very itchy ham | 24 Oct 2003 02:46 GMT | 6 |
I need some help. My daughter has a new hampster, Sandy. We've had her about 6 weeks. She is friendly, playful, and already tame to the touch. Lately, however, she has been scratching A LOT. She stops every five minutes or so to scratch. I checked her out pretty well & I have

| Zippy News | 24 Oct 2003 02:40 GMT | 6 |
I have not been able to post for a while but all is well here. Zippy had a trip to the vets for a tooth inspection. Her bottom front teeth seem to have disappeared but she is eating well and will have regular inspections to check the upper ones. As she gets older she is more content ...
