I have a boy syrian hamster who is just over a year old.
While we were out playing tonight, I noticed that his claws are getting
quite long.
In his cage I have a sandpit and a garden rock, but it doesn't seem to be

Hi. My dwarf has seriously long fingernails. I never seen this on a
hammy before. do i need to trim these or will theywear down eventually?
Truthfully he will not hold still for me to even try to trim. She is so
tiny and squirmy she is like trying to hold a wet noodle   hahaha. is

I know I do not post here much, but I do read often!
We are fairly new hamster owners, and we just have a REALLY bad out come with them.
Each hamster is for our almost 6 yr old, though I take care of them, she talks & pets them.

I've had my robo hamsters smirnoff and pigwidgeon for 2 weeks now,
they are about three months old.  Just a few days ago I (and others !)
have noticed they have been a bit smelly, this started just a day
after I cleaned their cage , does anyone have any suggestions why this

Hi. my new hammy is the hardest to tame yet. had him 4 days and he still
will not let me pick him up and i do not want to force the issue. he
lets me pet him a little. still cannot get him to eat out of my hands.

My friend Lenny bought a new hamster a while back, not knowing she was
preggie( She was thin and very active).
Anyway,she had five little ones. we put her home in a walk in closet so she
was not being disturbed by the coming and going, disturbing her only to feed

Tippy, who had been with a foster since about October has been adopted!! She
was at another rescuer's home, and she was able to find her a great home!!
And, I have someone interested in another ham... I wonder who it will be:)

I know that it has been months since I have posted, I am sorry that I have
missed the happenings here, but I need some support....
Our Lizzie (now 2 years old) is sick.... I thought that she had wet tail so
ignorantly I used the OTC "cure". Of course it did not work, so today she

We are very sorry to announce that our belove Syrian hamster, Speedy, passed
away this morning. It appears that he passed away pacefully in his sleep.
He has been our constant companion day and night for the last two and a half
years, and we mourn his passing. We hope is in heaven ...
