Hamster "screaming"17 Jan 2004 16:50 GMT13
We just got a new hamster.  After reading various information on them, I realize that some of Gizmo's behavior is normal.  Hiding out in the corner, being somewhat fearful of us.  I know now that we need to "tame" Gizmo and he will have to get use to us recgonizing our ...
Who can tell me about a hamster skin condition?17 Jan 2004 11:11 GMT3
It appears one of my little gals has some kind of skin condition that might
be the cause of her thinning hair or just noticable because of the thin
hair. Is there any kind of treatment that can be administered without the
intervention of a vet. It is so cold here these days(well ...
Quickie17 Jan 2004 03:10 GMT5
Does anyone know if we need to put any special food in for our baby dwarfs
when they start feeding properly?  I know mum will feed them for now, but do
they need anything in particular when they start feeding themselves?
Thank you
silver17 Jan 2004 03:07 GMT10
I wanted to update everyone on our new baby, Silver.  We got him just after Christmas while on the way to buy cat food at the pet store.  I can't imagine how I ended up in the hamster aisle......
He is getting so big!  He's a long-haired, but only has tuffs of long gray fur around ...
The Runt of the Litter17 Jan 2004 03:00 GMT2
Evil Daughter Ham had 7 babies on Christmas Day. Today six of the babies are
fat and active and just about ready to go out on their own, but one of them
is pretty sad. He is about 1/4 of the size of the others, appears very
frail, and not as developed. It's like he stopped growing ...
Bad Hamster Mommy17 Jan 2004 02:50 GMT3
Our hamster just had babies about 3 days ago. This is her first
litter. We have her in one of those habitrail cages with the tunnels,
and she made her nest in one of the tunnels. However, her babies keep
falling out of the nest and down the tubes and she forgets about them.
Quark let me touch him!!!!!!16 Jan 2004 03:05 GMT3
He first walked around my hand, sniffing it...& then gave me this look like
"You may touch the great & mighty Quark" & I did & he didn't freak out!!!!!
Also...Paisley really tends to stuff her cheeks with food & I found some tiny,
ham sized doggie biscuits & she walked around for a ...
Bert is gone15 Jan 2004 14:30 GMT7
At cage cleaning time yesterday, I found that Bert had left us. He was fine
the night before, nibbling on his greens. Bert was a long haired golden
Syrian that we got last summer. He never would let us get to close to him,
he would grunt and squeal like a guinea pig. We tried taming ...
funny ham14 Jan 2004 22:26 GMT4
OK.....I will put my hand in Quark's cage & leave it there so he can get used
to me....& he will get sooooooooo close to my hand (usually while munching a
treat I gave him) that I can feel his body heat -but if I move a muscle to
touch him,,,he looks TOTALLY offended!!!!! He is an ...
Hamspter as new pet?14 Jan 2004 22:24 GMT4
Good Morning all.  I am a new subscriber to this group.
I got engaged on Dec 31 and am planning on moving in with my fiance in
May.  I currently live at home with parents and 2 cats.  Hands down I
am a cat person.  My Fiance lives in an apartment and doesn't like
Anyone need a computer?14 Jan 2004 13:52 GMT2
I know this is a bit inappropriate but I feel as if I know you so I thought
I would ask anyway.
I was just wondering if anyone in the UK needs a new computer.
I've got a couple of 1.3 AMD Duron systems that need "adoption" to a "loving
Rodney Desd at 3 months.... :-(13 Jan 2004 02:40 GMT7
I had a syrian hamster for 4 1/2 years before she died (Mrs Jingles) which
was a very good innings I thought. About 2 months after she died I got 2
Chinese hamsters (George and Rodney). Two weeks after having them Rodney
started to attack george and caused him to have wet tail, so I ...
My first hamster - a few questions13 Jan 2004 02:35 GMT6
I bought a female hamster two weeks ago, I think she is about two
months old now.
She was very nervous to start with but after just two weeks she is
happy being handled and being around humans. She's quite tame already.

Whats in my hamster's nose?12 Jan 2004 02:48 GMT5
I have had my drawf hamster for about a year now.  She seems to be very
healthy and has a nice coat of fur, although she is a little chubby.
About a month or so ago, she started having trouble breathing.  It would
sound like something was stuck in her nose, like there was fluid in ...
