Question about Hamster Hair Loss24 Aug 2004 07:10 GMT5
I have been noticing that my hamster has some hair gone from it's back. I
see it scratching it sometimes and wonder if it's something that I am doing
wrong. Could it be that I am not changing bedding in it's cage enough? Does
anyone have any ideas? The hamster is about 6 months old.
New Addition To The Horde - Goldie20 Aug 2004 04:09 GMT3
It seems as soon as someone leaves our horde we come across someone who is
in need of a home.
A trip to New Hampshire recently found us stopping in a mall to grab a bite.
It would of course figure that in this mall, there would be a pet store.  I
My beloved Chewie passed away20 Aug 2004 03:32 GMT5
Dear Hamster Friends,
I lost my beloved Chewie in the early hours of Saturday morning. Although
she was 2 years and 2 months old it came as such a shock. She had shown no
signs of degeneration and was certainly not off her food and the night
RIP Louise20 Aug 2004 03:29 GMT6
lost one of our hamsters saturday, all happened so quick.
she was fine in the morning. (6am) she always came to the cage just before i
left for work, if i had time i would get her out and play with her for a
bit. if not i would always give her a bit of food through the cage.
New addition (albeit non-hamster)!20 Aug 2004 03:26 GMT6
When Basil passed away a couple of weeks ago I made the decision to never
again "rescue" an animal from a pet shop.  He was underdeveloped for his age
(at 6 months he weighed 80g as opposed to Bams 160g) though the vet couldnt
find anything wrong other than his bouts of wet tail ...

Hamster Olympics (Re-post)18 Aug 2004 14:24 GMT8
If your hamster were to enter the Hamster Olympics, in which area
would he or she "bring home the gold"?  Would it be Night-sprinting?
Cage-gnawing?  Nut-cracking?  Another category?

Sick hamster I think15 Aug 2004 20:08 GMT4

I think my hamster is sick (I also think I posted this earlier but I
can't find it).
I came home tonight and she was stumbling around as if she were drunk,
feeding Hammy vegetables15 Aug 2004 17:02 GMT10
I have a couple of hamster-care books here at home that say it's safe to
feed hamsters vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower.
The one thing the book doesn't say, is if they should be cooked first.
Can someone tell me if I should cook things first before giving them to my
Can I Save 1 Week Old Baby Hamster???15 Aug 2004 02:27 GMT2
The mother of my black bear hamsters has cannibalized her entire
litter, all except for 1 that is still alive (for now).  I'm wondering
if there's anyway I can take the baby out and keep it alive and raise
it myself somehow.  Is there anyway a 1 week old baby can live without
