Hamsters vs. Gerbils30 Sep 2004 20:39 GMT2
Don't get my wrong, I love my Rocket! I was just wondering, for anyone
who's owned hamsters and gerbils, which is generally easier to tame?
More fun to keep? I'm not trying to say one is totally better than the
other, I know they both have their pros and cons. I was just wondering
Gnawing and scratching?30 Sep 2004 15:47 GMT10
My russian dwarf Rocket does not scratch or chew anything ever! I'm a
little worried about his teeth. I checked and they're not too long,
but he's only 2 months old. I'm not freaking out, cuz he has Kaytee
Forti-Diet and he prolly eats one a week or so. However, I was just
Wodent wheel adaptions29 Sep 2004 16:58 GMT4
I'd to get a couple of wodent wheels for the new members of the family, if
only to quieten down some of the night-time mileage.  But I really do prefer
traditional ( plastic tray, wire upper) cages. A playpen is out due to
safety issues with the 2 dogs so its got to go in the ...

I have not been around for a bit, busy with getting back to school and all.  Not only the kids but I teach also.  Last time I posted I said we had 7 hamsters, Syrian, due to my not knowing the sex or that you do not cage Syrians together.  I know better now, after buying cages ...

Dear Reuben
Please take note of the temporary Archetectural Modification to the 2nd story
so as to accommodate Elanor's new Wodent Wheel, while awaiting the arrival of
the new adjoining stairwell.
New arrivals!!!28 Sep 2004 12:39 GMT3
I would like to announce the adoption of 2 young syrian girls.
Treacle Toffee is the younger by a few days I think and slightly smaller.
She has very fine pale toffee coloured fur and very dark ruby eyes I think
but I wont be absolutely sure until I see her in daylight.

two dead in one week28 Sep 2004 03:41 GMT4
Hi all...this is my first post.  I am concerned about what I am doing wrong
with gerbil/hamster.  A week ago I purchased a gerbil for my 6yr. old, the next
morning it was dead.  So we went back to the store and got a hamster. It was
playful and energetic and now 5 days later, I came ...
Just ordered a woodent wheel.28 Sep 2004 03:04 GMT11
I just ordered a woodent wheel sr. for Elanor. The wheel in her
habitrail safari was a little small for her. However, none of her 3
cages are big enough for the wheel. I was wondering what attachment I
could get that was cheap and could attach via a tube. Any ideas on what
Sad story From: "Deanna Cusic"27 Sep 2004 19:58 GMT5
Hi John
oops I never meant for it to seem as if I were suggesting the deaths could be
caused by the exercise balls, just care about HOW the hammie feels when he
smacks into the wall, and his body is thrown to the back of the ball.
Nocturnal to Diurnal27 Sep 2004 17:41 GMT1
I'm posting on behalf of a friend who has a white, pink eyed Syrian Hamster
(with skin pigmentation).
The hamster has been behaving oddly during the past 3 weeks or so - staying
in its house for up to 24 hours without coming out (apparently sleeping

His Wodent Wheel came in a while back and he now happily runs in it and
occaisionally sleeps in it.
