Its claw cutting time !!30 Mar 2005 23:28 GMT5
Buster's (a year old syrian) claws have grown too big. There not curled
over, but he's beginning to look like something out of Alien. I've given
him a decent cage and lots of things for him to scrabble about on, but
to no avail, so its off to the vets for him tomorrow evening.

RIP Cubby - ? - 3/23/0530 Mar 2005 01:14 GMT7
Our little rescue ham Cubby crossed the Rainbow Bridge this evening.
Of course I can't be sure but it looks like she had a heart attack on
her way to either her water bottle or food dish.  It looks like the end
came quickly and painlessly. I had mentioned here that she had been
New Addition to the Horde - Cashew30 Mar 2005 01:10 GMT3
Yet another little one appeared at our store the other day, labelled as a
biter by the mother who brought him in.
She claimed she bought it at our store, but we've never sold one this small,
he's soooo tiny.

RIP Mocha - 10/28/03 to 03/20/0529 Mar 2005 10:42 GMT5
Our dear little Mocha passed away sometime last night while sleeping.
Had he been showing obvious signs of age for some time now, slowing his pace
and not running as much as he was sleeping.
He came home with me one day after seeing how badly he was getting beaten up
RIP Hamtaro 5/7/02-3/16/0529 Mar 2005 10:40 GMT7
It is with heavy heart that I write of Hamtaro's passing.  He was born
to Momo, a hamster bailed out of the local shelter.  This little family
is what started my days of hamster rescue.  I had been doing general
rescue work scouting the shelters for different breed rescues for about

I have a bit of nori. It's just seaweed. I was wondering if I could feed
it to my hammies.

New Addition to the Horde - Mandy25 Mar 2005 09:56 GMT4
Mandy has actually been with us for a while now, but we've been hard pressed
to get any pictures of her, since she's sooooo skittish.
She's a full size syrian who was dumped off at our store with her
littermates.  We could only spare room for one at the time, so home she
Hamster never leaves her nest!23 Mar 2005 19:42 GMT3
Hi all! I've had a Syrian female hamster (named Pumpkin) for about 4
months now (she was about 4-6 weeks old when purchased). Her behavior
seemed normal -- sleeps all day, bounces off the walls at night. But
for the last week, I NEVER see her out of her nest. Well, she'll climb
OW!23 Mar 2005 11:09 GMT2
As-Yet-UnNamed-Hamster was awake, so I put my hand in the cage. He
sniffed it, and was calm, and let me pick him up, so I gave him a raisin
(which he seemed to enjoy).
Then he did his usual walkabout of my arms and chest, as I am getting
Questions23 Mar 2005 06:18 GMT4
I'm pet sitting a hamster for a couple of weeks and have a couple of
questions:
1. Is it normal for the hamster to pick out certain pieces of food from the
food dish, take them to one corner of the cage and then bury it in bedding?
Advice on handling Hamsters.21 Mar 2005 14:50 GMT3
Has any one got any advice on handling hamsters? I have a Syrian -
"Piglet".
He will take food out of my fingers and will also take food from off my
hand with no problems.
Just a couple questions21 Mar 2005 11:23 GMT1
Does anyone else ever notice their dwarf hamster sleeping on it's
back? Mine does and it's the cutest thing I have ever seen.
Also, how do you keep them from peeing in their wheel and TP tubes?
