Rainbow Bridge time 10 Mar 2005 00:48 GMT6
Hazzok and I sadly report that Aladdin crossed the bridge sometime late
yesterday afternoon or evening.  We're not sure of the exact time.  I found
him when I went to put fresh water in his bottle.
He is missed already by us.

Sigh - Bistro is gone09 Mar 2005 22:33 GMT5
I woke up this morning to find him crawling slowly around the cage, all
stretched out and not breathing well.  I picked him up and he was cold
and limp.
I held him warm until he died.  He was 2 years 3 months old, so a pretty
Stress in Dwarf Hamsters09 Mar 2005 00:32 GMT3
We have been keeping Russian dwarfs for some time now. We are recently
finding that hamsters that we put in buckets or containers that are
translucent seem to have a higher chance of dying. Admittedly they are only
put in them because they get attacked in the main cage. I wonder if ...
Dwarf Hamster Biting09 Mar 2005 00:30 GMT2
My Cambells Dwarf used to never bite at all. I could put my hand down he'd
sniff a bit then simply climb on. I've been doing that for a bout a week
with no problems.
Just yesterday he started biting my fingers whenever I put my hand down.
Cubby's skin lesions09 Mar 2005 00:03 GMT1
Hi all.  Cubby's visit to the vet went well and I am glad that I took
her in.  She got a complete exam in addition to the look-see of her
skin.  The vet wound up taking a culture - actually he pulled hairs at
the outside of the lesions since he thinks it is likely a fungal
wee jars09 Mar 2005 00:01 GMT1
Ive heard lots of you talk about wee jars, im presuming they are actually a
jar, but what do they do?  Is it to train your hamster to go in one place,
and if so how do you do this?
I would love to know

bedding question07 Mar 2005 09:54 GMT6
I know there are probably a million different opinions on this one.  My
local pet store just started carrying this stuff called CareFresh.  I have
been using pine shavings and found they work pretty good and "Chippit" seems
to like it.  What's this CareFresh stuff all about, I read ...
Boris, Pavalova and Munchkins website06 Mar 2005 19:45 GMT7
I don't post very often, but do read the newgroup almost every day. My
hamster Munchkin has taught Pavalova my other hamster, (who lives in a
seperate cage on the other side of the room ) how to chew the bars to get
attention.
Claw problem - again...06 Mar 2005 19:31 GMT1
I've got a one year old Syrian hamster. We've started to see his claws
getting longer, the the point that it is occasionally starting to catch
on his bedding.
They aren't that long, but I want to start taking some action about it
"Final" cleaning procedure?06 Mar 2005 19:23 GMT1
It's been a couple of years since I had to do this.....
What's the procedure for cleaning an aquarium after a hamster has passed
away in it?  Aladdin wasn't ill...though he had had a stroke about 2 weeks
ago.
need evidence for dangers of fluff bedding04 Mar 2005 17:06 GMT4
I have the opportunity to present some evidence to people at Petco in
an effort to get them to remove the dangerous fluff bedding from their
stores. If anyone has any anectdotal evidence that they wouldn't mind
sharing (preferably first-hand) it would be very helpful. I would
Scabbing/hard skin on flank03 Mar 2005 01:34 GMT2
My little Cubby has just presented with a skin lesion that is about
1/4" in diameter.  It is in the spot where I would expect the right
sebaceaous gland (hip spot)to be.  She is a black hammie and the spot
is grey and raised.  It is not really like a scab - more scar-like.
Dharma has died03 Mar 2005 01:32 GMT4
Just an hour ago I was holding Dharma. She was very weak and couldn`t walk.
She was always cleaning herself but today she had a dirty bottom.
Her eyes were glazed and her hair was matted.
Dharma ate a small amount of boiled egg and went to sleep.
