a brief escape13 May 2005 20:54 GMT1
Renfield apparently went exploring last night.
When I got up, part of his little tube assembly had come loose, and he
was nowhere to be seen.
I wasn't too worried, as there was no way he can get out of my

I just wanted to share my pics of cutie incase anyone is interested in

Squeaky is spending the night at the Vet
When we brought our new hamster, Squeaky, home on 3/20/05, I noticed her
poop was not typical hamster poop.  It was slightly soft and brown in color.
At first I thought it we had bought a hamster with wet-tail.  Squeaky was

How long is ok for her to run around in her ball? I stop her every now and

but she doesnt seem to want to get out of it, when i try to put her back
in her cage. She really seems to like the freedom her ball ...
Hi fellow hamster enthusiasts!12 May 2005 21:52 GMT6
I am a new member here and have only been a hamster owner since the day
after the Presidential election... long story - don't ask. Anyhow, I
have a question for any of you with experience in their behaviour. My
girl, Amterella, lives in a Crittertrail X (the kind with the "petting
Hammy's First Escape12 May 2005 21:39 GMT8
Woke up this morning and looked in on Hammy and he was not there. He
had somehow gotten the cap off of his trail tube and escaped. His cage
is on my dresser so I was hoping he was still on it somewhere. Nope.
My room is a rodent's paradise. So many places to hide that  I could
Sad week11 May 2005 23:29 GMT2
In the week since my gerbil "dawn" died after just 2 months, I prepare
a split tank to introduce her to a new cagemate - on monday I buy a new
gerbil, When I get back from the pet shop I notice she has a swollen
back leg, so I make no attempts to introduce them
Tribute to Henry11 May 2005 17:37 GMT10
I haven't posted here before but just wanted to let anyone interested
know that our little Henry is no longer with us.
He was a teddy bear hamster that we've had with us since March of 2003.
Not sure how old he was at that time but a few months is a good guess.
sad day11 May 2005 17:16 GMT4
Sorry to post about a gerbil on here - alt.pets.gerbils is a tad
inactive!
so - I get home from work tonight, and discover one of my gerbils
(dawn), lying in the foodbowl, dead.
Hi its me again11 May 2005 17:00 GMT6
My hamster bit my thumb once I was holding her trying to get her use to me,
and just letting her run through my hands over and over, and i think maybe
she got upset from not going anywhere cause all of a sudden she just
grabbed my thumb and bit me. I haven't held her since cause im ...

Buster - going a bit bald...11 May 2005 00:56 GMT2
I've owned buster since buying him from the petshop in March 2004.
Yesterday, I noticed he's started to go a bit bald on his back, and near
his "sweat" glands.
Nothing has changed in his environment (nice big cage, regularly cleaned

Santa, my Syrian male has suddenly become very unsteady on his feet and

American Airlines hates me.10 May 2005 17:02 GMT7
And my little Stanzie. After reading the FAQ, I was confident bringing
my syrian home to Tennessee from New york would be no problem. I was
prepared to get the vet statement, pay the fee, etc. I call them and
this lady dictates out of a book to me of somesort that hamsters "are
Take your hamster to the vet if you notice a change in behavior10 May 2005 16:59 GMT1
Our hamster Henry was put to sleep this past Monday. If I look back at
his last month or two I can see a change in his behavior overall. He
didn't run as much on his wheel, didn't really go anywhere in his ball
and didn't eat as much as his first 2 healthy years. I thought at the ...
