When a hamster has crusty eyes; is that normal?   Also what do you do if
your hamster has a pus ball?
Is this normal?30 Jun 2005 00:46 GMT3
Hi, I'm new to this site and I have a question.
My hamster will get a drink and maybe something
to eat about every 2 hrs. then  go back to sleep
until about 9:00 p.m. then it would wake up and get un the wheel.
Dying Hamster29 Jun 2005 21:17 GMT6
My elderly hamster is dying; the vet says it's probably a lung tumour.  He's
been extremely ill for a week, and it's obvious now that there's no chance
of a recovery.  He seems to be comfortable right now (mainly because he's
slept solid for the past 2 days and nights) so we've ...
What is this critter doing?29 Jun 2005 20:25 GMT6
This morning our little fatso Emmie is rearranging all of the bedding in the
cage. We have one of those 2 level plastic SAMs cages where the food and
water bowl are on the second level. Normally Emmie hides on the first level
in one of the corners. Today I discovered that she ...
I got new hammies!26 Jun 2005 18:29 GMT8
Hello, after mourning the passing of Becks I was feeling a bit hammieless,
and so on saturday I went and got myself two very cute and very tiny dwarf
Russian boys.
They were part of a litter of nine, so seem smaller than usual and so

My wife has a small hamster that is in the process of dying.
I have read several websites and posts in this NG about euthanasia for
hamsters.
Is there a way to humanely do this at home. I don't want to sound
Yoghurt21 Jun 2005 20:59 GMT3
I've read here there you should give plain yoghurt to hamsters that are
taking antibiotics.
My previous post mentions that my hamster had a shot of Baytril last Friday
and that he now has diarrohea, which is probably actually wet tail due to
Euthanasia21 Jun 2005 20:54 GMT3
My family's elderly (3 years) hamster is very ill.  The vet says it's
probably either a lung tumour or pneumonia.
Friday morning the hamster had a shot of Baytril, but he hasn't improved
since then.  He doesn't appear to be in pain, but the vet says that small
Private Problems20 Jun 2005 08:12 GMT1
My hamster Louie like to play with himself; which I hear is normal.
Now his which looks like only one ball (if you know what I mean) has no
hair on it and is really red, like, bleeding, but it's not.   It's sorta
of little yellow and white in color.   Is he just swollen?  I don't ...
bags of food15 Jun 2005 01:27 GMT11
My hammies Cutie and Rascal won't eat all the stuff that there food comes
with. They will only eat the sunflower seeds and the corn. I know the
other stuff in there is good for them, so what should i do? I also put a
pinch of dry oatmeal in there fresh food each night cause it is ...

Rainbow bridge time again 15 Jun 2005 01:07 GMT15
Tanner and I regret to announce that Hazzok crossed over last night,
sometime after 10 pm.  He had not been doing well the last month or so,
having had at least 1 stroke.
He was approximately 2 years 4 months old (difficult to tell since pet shops
Fatso14 Jun 2005 02:09 GMT3
Our little baby Emmy has gotten FAT this past month. She is having trouble
getting up the tube in her habitrail type house. She also struggles to get
up to the second level shelf for her food. We've stopped giving her
sunflower seeds to see if that helps. Is there anything else ...
Baytril11 Jun 2005 08:02 GMT3
A few weeks ago, my hamster was on Baytril for a week.  He improved very
much, but now he's beginning to look a bit ill again.  I still have lots of
Baytril left in the bottle.  Can I use this same Baytril again, or is it
like penicillin etc and it has to be thrown away after a ...
My hamster has had a fall!11 Jun 2005 01:26 GMT5
My son knocked the hamster cage of the table and the whole lot went down
about 2 foot. Now the little hamster looks terrified and  is running about
his cage like a maniac. I do hope he will be ok
