I have a dwarf hamster who is 3years old now (I always seem to get lucky
and get hams that go on forever) and his bottom two teeth have fallen out,
he has had a stroke and his back legs dont work very well.  Anyway my
question is, he finds it quite hard to eat his food so I have ...

An almost-escape from a Crittertrail 2.28 Oct 2005 05:57 GMT1
My teddy bear Syrian, Stanzie, managed an escape tonight. She's
somewhat of an artist now -- I upgraded to a Crittertrail 2 in August
after she managed to break the red plastic tap on the right side off
and pry the roof open. On her Crittertrail 2, there are 2 openings in

Alternative medicine to treat hamster cancer?28 Oct 2005 01:07 GMT3
Hi people
I just learned yesterday that Hammie probably has a cancer of the adrenal
glands and possibily a tumor on his belly. Hammie's immune system is going
to be weakened and he's probably going to go a little bald. :-(
Took Hammie to the vet28 Oct 2005 00:50 GMT4
Hi people
I've posted here before about Hammie. Hammie had some eye problems that went
away but they came back. His right eye is swollen and closed up. I took
Hammie to the vet today. The vet said that Hammie probably poked his eye in
Hamster storing bedding in Wheel22 Oct 2005 07:54 GMT2
I am a hamster newbie. We got one recently for my daughter. We got the
hamster a wheel that attaches to the habitrail. At first she used the
wheel for exercise but now all she does is store her bedding and food
in it. We keep emptying it and she keeps filling it. She is also

Hello everyone, I'm new to the group, well this is my 2nd posting!
We've got an 8 week old syrian, had him nearly 3 weeks.  Sometimes he
comes to the door when we open it and he'll take food from our fingers,
other times he runs away and hides, anybody know why?

So our last hamster.. Walter a female fancy we adopted as an old lady..
first she was in a school and then taken home by a student... there she had

Bebop`s Last Hours18 Oct 2005 17:43 GMT6
I sat up with Bebop untill 3am this morning.
He just stared at me, barely blinking. I warmed him in my lap
ontop a heating pad. I slid him inside a warm fuzzy sock.
He looked so pathetic, yet cute.
Throwing out the bedding18 Oct 2005 17:40 GMT7
My hammy is a new mom of about 9 cute little hammies (since 23rd
august). She keeps on digging out and throwing out her bedding
(Carefresh) from the cage, even if I add some fresh bedding in there.
Is that normal, or is it something wrong with the bedding? She's never
Another Empty Cage18 Oct 2005 17:14 GMT4
Last night Prailene died.
He was a really sweet Syrian hamster. A light brownish caramel color.
The same as the sweet mexican candy his was named after.
He was over three years old.
Handling my hamster18 Oct 2005 10:45 GMT2
Can anyone help?  I've got an 8 week old hamster.  I can get him to
take food out of my fingers, but if I put food on the palm of my hand,
he runs away.  He always comes to the door of the cage when I open it,
but runs away if I put my hand in.  How do I get him to go on my hand.
Pooping in the wheel18 Oct 2005 06:43 GMT1
My furry little friends use their running wheel as the toilet. They drop
their solids and pee in the wheel. It's becoming a literally daily event to
clean the wheel. There is a potty attached. Every time I clean the wheel I
put some droppings in the potty, but they haven't gotten ...
