Reefcam for classroom30 Jul 2003 18:27 GMT2
I am interested in setting up a webcam (streaming video would be awesome) so
that parents and students can check out the classroom reef tank.  Does
anyone have suggestions about how I can do this *easily*?  Any pushes in the
right direction would be much appreciated.  I don't have ...
slightly OT, live rock in a FO tank a good idea? 30 Jul 2003 16:12 GMT2
I have been charged with recycling 2 former FO tanks at a building our
company bought.  They are 120g and 90 g approx each.  Both have wet drys
etc.  They had a bunch of dead coral skeletons and a few fish.  The lawyers
didn't put much love into them.
Converting 70 gallon tank from fw to sw30 Jul 2003 14:35 GMT5
I've kept an aquarium for years.  I started with a ten gallon filled
with guppies.  Blah, Blah, Blah....   I now have a 70 gallon with
Irridescents and believe it or not, goldfish.  I had 2 "worms" that
decided to commit suicide... no matter how tightly I sealed the top,
substate question30 Jul 2003 07:37 GMT1
When I set up my tank about 6 months ago I was advised by a LFS to use
about 2" of coarse coral sand as a substrate
Later after doing more research (I know should have done that first) I
removed most of the coral sand just leaving a thin layer and added loads
lighting ?30 Jul 2003 07:13 GMT3
Spent a lot of time on the nano reef site and many of the corals thrive
in low - high lighting.  My question is, what is low lighting for them?
In my dutch aquarium I use full spectrum lighting for my plants.  Would
the same work for the low light requirements of some of the ...
A new gizmo... finally!!30 Jul 2003 06:14 GMT3
Hey guys, I've been wanting a feeding timer for my tank for a long time now.
Well over a year, maybe for the past few years.... I got very serious about it
in the past 12 months though.
Anyway, I finally made my timer yesterday.  I don't have any idea if you guys
Nuisance or serendipitous refugium ?30 Jul 2003 06:05 GMT1
I was climbing up on top of my cabinets tonight to do a little work on
one of my durso standpipes, and found quite large tangles of sargassum
(I think) growing in the overflows. Is this something good and I should
leave it there, or do I want to yank it all out and pitch it ?
Grounding Probe30 Jul 2003 00:35 GMT7
Just wondering here...I put a ground probe in one of my tanks and
hooked it up to a GFCI outlet.  I was feeling some shocks when I
touched the water.  I narrowed the problem down to the lighting.
Anyway, the GFCI never tripped.  I thought aside from supposedly

Looking for a place that sells replacement DI filters for my RO/DI unit.  My

advice on levelling an aquarium28 Jul 2003 15:37 GMT10
Does anyone have any advice on how to get a tank level?  It's on a 4 legged
metal stand that's sitting on a carpet.  I strongly suspect that what is
level when the tank is empty may not be when it's full due to different
compressibility (is that a word?) of the material underneath.
lysmata rathbunae?27 Jul 2003 19:24 GMT1
Does anyone know about the lysmata rathbunae (commonly sold as peppermint
shrimp)?  I have had trouble finding information on this particular species.
Do they also eat Aiptasia like the wurdemani, or are they completely
different?  Any information on this shrimp would be greatly ...
gulfview.com live rock27 Jul 2003 18:46 GMT1
I saw a post mentioning that someone got some live rock from this shipper.
Has anyone else had any experience with this rock?  It looks like a good
deal, but sometimes looks are deceptive.
