I had hoped, when I first came on this newsgroup, that I would find
links to the many posters' personal pages of their own tanks, much like
all the url's to everyone's ponds on that newsgroup.  Because I really
love to see other hobbyists' aquariums, I'm disappointed not to find
MH for 4 to 6 hours only?08 Sep 2003 05:17 GMT2
Just finished reading Marine Reef Aquarium Handbook by Dr. Robert J.
Goldstein, in which he mentioned on the lighting section that MH are
only good for the first 4 to 6 hours, and that after that, they generate
heat and that VHO is the way to go.
MH quit, followup07 Sep 2003 18:29 GMT1
It turned out my bulb was burnt out. My next question is since the tank has
been without the MH for 6 days while I got the replacement and I am also
going from a 6,500 to a 10K do I need to drop back my time period and build
it back up again? It previously was on for 8 1/2 hours. ...
Need help with  my UW pictures - Sipadan, Lembeh Strights, North sulawesi07 Sep 2003 12:22 GMT2
I have just come back from Sipadan, Lembeh Strights, North sulawesi
(Bunaken)and Sangalaki. I took a lot of underwater pictures when I was
there. The thing is that I need some help trying to identify the
underwater animals that I have on my page. Maybe some of you out there
Temperature Control Monitors07 Sep 2003 08:43 GMT1
Is anyonye using a temperature control monitor?  I'm thinking about
getting one, but they are a bit on the expensive side.  Optimally, it
would handle both a chiller and a couple of heaters sitting in the sump (
for 150 gallon tank).  I don't have a chiller yet, and I won't need ...
Problem with steady bubble rate for calcium reactor07 Sep 2003 04:35 GMT1
I have a calcium reactor (A My Reef Creations MR-4) and am using it with a 10
gallon co2 tank and am using the blue line dual gauge co2 regulator.  The
problem I have is keeping a steady bubble rate.  I have plenty co2 in the tank.
The gauge is showing it and it was just filled not ...
Gulf Toadfish07 Sep 2003 00:54 GMT1
Does anyone have any/much experience with the gulf toadfish (Opsanus Beta)
While picking up some aquacultured live rock in tampa 2 years ago, the
place gave me the toadfish that was caught in a net.
I have had this guy in a 38gal alone for the last year or so, and it just
DIY lighting05 Sep 2003 19:35 GMT6
I am pretty good at making things so I decided I would try out my own
lighting system.  My first question is what does everyone use for reflector
material?  Is there something cheap at Lowes or Home Depot I can use?
Thanks
drilling holes vs overflow05 Sep 2003 09:46 GMT1
i am in the very early phases of starting my very first reef aquarium, and
was intrigued by the idea of drilling holes in a tank vs. a built in
overflow.  the application of sump appears very popular, and something i
would like to incorporate.
New Tank plumbing05 Sep 2003 08:12 GMT6
I am about to order a 120 gallon (48" x 24" x24") acrylic tank with internal
overflow from my LFS. This is to be used for a reef tank. I had a 75 gallon
for 7 yrs. but due to move and other circumstances dismantled 3 years ago.
Now I'm good to go and getting quite excited. My ...
What is this??05 Sep 2003 00:48 GMT1
I found this rolling across the sand a few days ago.. I assume it came
off the back of the live rock since I haven't added anything new.
What's the best way to get it to re-attach?

green algae04 Sep 2003 13:36 GMT1
Ok my tank is over a month old and I have had a light coating of brown
algae on the bottom for about three weeks now.  I was told that it is
not harmful to my tank so I have not worried about it.  On monday while
doing my regular tanks maintenance I noticed some green algae on the
Jawfish04 Sep 2003 13:12 GMT3
I was interested in buying one of these.  I have a 180 gal with a crushed
coral and sand substrate.  The substrate is three to four inches thick.  Is
there anything I need to know about keeping this type of fish?
Thanks
Debug MH light hood?04 Sep 2003 13:03 GMT4
I've got a metal halide lighting hood over my reef aquarium.  One central
250W MH bulb, and two adjacent PC actinics.  Two separate power cords: one
for the PC bulbs + fan, and one for the MH bulb.  The MH power cord goes to
a ballast, which says that it is 400W/120V/4A.
How can I tell if kalkwasser water is too old04 Sep 2003 06:35 GMT1
I'd like to get opinions on kalkwasser.
I mix approx 5 tsps of kalkwasser a week with ro/di water. It is
stirred in a five gallon bucket with a powerhead (covered). I put the
solution in a 5 gallon kent marine drip (cover on). This solution
