Help with my 29g setup--basic questions20 Sep 2003 22:43 GMT2
I am setting up a new marine tank for the first time in several years.
There are no fish yet.  It currently has a reverse UGF and a Penguin
Biowheel.  I am going to order a CPR Bak Pak protein skimmer.  Since
that will provide my biological filtration, can I get rid of the UGF?
Show and Tell (again)20 Sep 2003 04:58 GMT3
I've jumped the gun on the next installment of the progress of my less
than three months old tank.  Sitting here with a broken foot, waiting
for what's left of the hurricane to come breezing through here with
enough inches of rain to keep me watching that the fish don't float out ...

Tampa Bay SW Live Rock19 Sep 2003 17:54 GMT2
Has anyone purchased aquacultured live rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater.
I'm thinking of buying about 15-20 pounds to seed my argocrete, and I
was looking at a mixture of their decorator and "corals on rock."  Is
the corals on rock really worth $6 a pound?  The pictures they have ...
sand19 Sep 2003 13:47 GMT2
I decided to make DSB.
Ron Shimek writes it's the best to have very fine sand.
Does somebody use silica sand for it, or most of you use some kind of
calcite/aragonite sand?
Halide Life Expentancy19 Sep 2003 04:15 GMT1
Greetings Fellow Reefers. (uuuhh  don't go there!. :)
Would like some opinions on Halide bulb replacement intervals.  Any one for
once a year?   Shorter?  Longer?  Different brands sooner?  Better ones
longer?
filtration19 Sep 2003 02:07 GMT1
I have a aquaclear 200 for my 25 gallon tank, would this be enough
filtration and create enough current (fish, LR and coral)? Would I still
need to add a protein skimmer and power head?
Moon lights?19 Sep 2003 02:00 GMT2
Does anyone here use a moon light? If so, do you have it on every night, or
do you cycle it in an attempt to mimic moon phases?
The reason I ask is that I just built one. They seemed kind of expensive for
what they are,  so I put one together myself for about $10 using a blue LED.
New to marine aquariums18 Sep 2003 19:40 GMT4
I am (of course) new to this group as I am in the process of setting
up my first saltwater aquarium.  I am a 6th and 8th grade science
teacher and an experienced "exotic" pet owner has I have kept
reptiles and amphibians for years at home and in the classroom.
