| MH taking longer to turn on. | 10 Sep 2003 02:50 GMT | 2 |
I have a MH pendant with a 175w true 10K german bulb. It replaced a 20K from coral life that was 1 1/2 old. I've been using the 10K one for a month. Both bulbs turned/turn on immediately I hit the ballast switch, albeit very dim, and usually

I just bought a 75g tank for reef, with stand and canopy. The canopy has no lights so I am mounting my own. My plan is to install 2 VHOs, one in the front and one in the back, and 2 MHs, one on each end between the VHOs. This sound like a decent configuration ? What I

I'm looking at setting up a 100 gallon reef aquarium and although I've done a fair bit of homework, I still have lots of questions. I'm sure this gets asked a lot, so I will search the ng archives, but if anyone could point me to any good resources it would be greatly

| What do you do with Creep? | 09 Sep 2003 06:53 GMT | 2 |
Sorry for asking another NEWB question but I was wondering... Is it okay to kinda scrape/push the creep back in to the tank? I'm curious what methods other people use for removing/cleaning the salt creep from thier tanks.

| Denitrification riddle | 09 Sep 2003 01:58 GMT | 5 |
I understand (I believe) how DSB and plenums work. By creating an anoxic zone where bacteria are forced to pull oxygen out of the nitrate molecule, leaving inert nitrogen behind. What baffles me is if the oxygen cant get the anoxic zone, how in blazes

| Major crash - big or small water changes? | 08 Sep 2003 22:01 GMT | 4 |
I was gone on vacation and somehow the GFCI tripped on my 110 reef tank. Don't know how long it was without power - probably 3-4 days. I lost two fish (firefish and bangaii cardinal), lots of snails and hermit crabs, and my clam and anemone probably won't make it. Also, lots ...

| Can you help me identify these corals? | 08 Sep 2003 13:18 GMT | 2 |
I bought corals from GARF, www.garf.org. I'm very happy with these and for $99 you get a big selection but of course they are small plugs but will grow. Most I was able to identify but there are 4 I can't. I have taken pictures of all 4 and picture #3 of them actually has 3
