I have a quick question.  How feasible would a 250l setup be with only a
Fluval 404, a couple of small powerheads and lots of live rock?  Is all the
other paraphernalia such as skimmers absolutely necessary?  Essentially all

I've had an ongoing, never ending battle with red slime in my 46gal
FOWLR.  About one week after my last water change, I'm now seeing a very
orange/brown crop all over my crushed coral.  I suspect brown diatoms as
I saw those early on when I started the tank.

Stupid me decided that when I did my water change, I needed to clean my
protein skimmer, since it was a bit nasty looking.  So I clean it, put it
back on tank, then I realize I need to hurry to get my kids from school.  
So I started it up, not noticing all the microbubbles going

I'm desperate - My clown fish is past the point of no return.  I can't stand
seeing him suffer anymore.  He's currently lying on his size on a rock and

did mix the new water well enough I guess because now I can see salt on my
live rock. Is this ok or do I need to do something? Presently I 10lbs. live
