We're knee deep in spam and sarcastic replies.
We've had enough.
We'll get info and answers the intelligent way. We'll research and find a
Dark reddish/brown algae27 Nov 2003 14:33 GMT2
I have a 55 gallon tank with 36' power compacts.  I have approximately
8 fish and some soft corals.  When I first set up my tank, I got a
huge growth of calcitrous algae and it looked great.  Lately, the
calcitrous is not growing as much and I am starting to see growths of
Too much light for bubble coral?27 Nov 2003 14:31 GMT4
I have a green bubble coral that doesn't seem to be doing well and I
can't figure out why. I've had it for a couple of months now and it
rarely is fully expanded. It also looks more brown/tan than when I first
got it.
Blue/green chromis-very fragile???27 Nov 2003 05:49 GMT7
We just started a reef tank recently and we have had good luck with
everything so far except with the blue/green chromises(sp).  We are down to
one and I don't have lots of hope for him.
We have a pj cardinale, coral banded shrimp, coral beauty, yellow tang,
How much to charge27 Nov 2003 02:30 GMT8
I want to sell my reef system, and need to figure out how much to
charge for everything. I was thinking $2,500 for the following (the
initial setup cost me *at least $5K* 3 years ago):
180 gallon Oceanic tank, custom oak stand and canopy, 3x250 metal
Replacing RO membrane question26 Nov 2003 23:21 GMT3
Does any one know if it's possible to replace an RO membrane without first
destroying the housing? If so, what is the recommended technique? The
housing on my Captive Purity system has a large, friendly looking, screw cap
on one end that has refused to loosen despite my efforts. ...

Is it safe to keep a cleaner wrasse in a 50 gal?
Is this too good to be true?26 Nov 2003 18:32 GMT5
You know how the saying goes.  If you think it's too good to be true it
probably is.

Possible Mantis Shrimp ...26 Nov 2003 17:31 GMT8
Today while I was staring into my tank, I saw what looked a heck of a lot
like a Mantis Shrimp. I have had some hermits and crabs torn up, but had
always thought these were the unlucky losers of some internal fighting ...
Anyone have any opinions on the traps mentioned at the ...
Condylactis question...26 Nov 2003 15:46 GMT9
Hi all...I recently came across "an offer I cant refuse" (as in free from
the LFS)as it were for a small condy. ,My question is this....whats the bare
minimum as far as lighting for this pretty lil fella?I hate putting it that
way,but Im just a poor country boy (recently got laid ...
I use both!26 Nov 2003 06:11 GMT1
I use one to push and one to pull air across my 250MH units although
this is not recommended by Ushio. They contend that it may cause
premature failure of spectrum. They say if you see blackening around
the ends before six or eight months, you have overcooled the lamp.
Calcium and Alkalinity is very high26 Nov 2003 05:59 GMT1
I have a 55 gallon reef (sps). I have a homemade cal-reactor and also
dose kalkwasser.Just took a calcium test (Salifert) and is 650ppm.
Alkalinity was tested (Salifert) at 15.5. I have no reason to think
that the kits are bad due to that I have taken some test on it
oxygenation26 Nov 2003 05:55 GMT1
If I have a powerhead with an airline intake that blows bubbles out the
powerhead's stream, is that alright or should I raise my powerhead so it
gets the surface turbulant? Is there a way around it so I don't need
anything bubbling? I notice it gets the glass on my canopy salty ...

lo flo ro26 Nov 2003 05:21 GMT7
I just changed the filters & DI cartridge on my H2OFIX RO/DI unit.  I
shut off the water at the saddle valve, did all the changes, then opened
the saddle valve again.  Now my unit is only producing a trickle; maybe
at most 1 gallon per hour from what was a 100 gallon per day unit ...
