I have a 55 gallon tank with 36' power compacts. I have approximately 8 fish and some soft corals. When I first set up my tank, I got a huge growth of calcitrous algae and it looked great. Lately, the calcitrous is not growing as much and I am starting to see growths of

| Too much light for bubble coral? | 27 Nov 2003 14:31 GMT | 4 |
I have a green bubble coral that doesn't seem to be doing well and I can't figure out why. I've had it for a couple of months now and it rarely is fully expanded. It also looks more brown/tan than when I first got it.

Today while I was staring into my tank, I saw what looked a heck of a lot like a Mantis Shrimp. I have had some hermits and crabs torn up, but had always thought these were the unlucky losers of some internal fighting ... Anyone have any opinions on the traps mentioned at the ...

| I use both! | 26 Nov 2003 06:11 GMT | 1 |
I use one to push and one to pull air across my 250MH units although this is not recommended by Ushio. They contend that it may cause premature failure of spectrum. They say if you see blackening around the ends before six or eight months, you have overcooled the lamp.

If I have a powerhead with an airline intake that blows bubbles out the powerhead's stream, is that alright or should I raise my powerhead so it gets the surface turbulant? Is there a way around it so I don't need anything bubbling? I notice it gets the glass on my canopy salty ...

I just changed the filters & DI cartridge on my H2OFIX RO/DI unit. I shut off the water at the saddle valve, did all the changes, then opened the saddle valve again. Now my unit is only producing a trickle; maybe at most 1 gallon per hour from what was a 100 gallon per day unit ...
