Red Starfish16 Nov 2003 21:40 GMT1
Hello--I'm sure this has been covered before, but do you really need
to hand feed a starfish? I hear differing views on this. Anyone care
to chime in?

metal halide wattage question have 175 w fixture, can i use less wattage bulb?16 Nov 2003 20:54 GMT8
hi folks, i have a fixture thats rated for a 175 watt metal halide
bulb, but i am wondering if i may place a metal halide bulb of less
wattage in it, it seems that that would be ok, as long as i didnot go
in the other direction, say installing a higher wattage bulb. it uses
I finally took the plunge16 Nov 2003 20:42 GMT10
It's been just talk for me for years but today I finally went from talking
to acting. I went to my L.F.S. and with a big wad of cash I bought all my
toys for my soon to be reef tank set-up. The advice from the guy at the
L.F.S. seemed to be complete. We talked for over an hour about ...
Lots of little feather dusters16 Nov 2003 20:34 GMT3
Over the last few months, I have been getting LOTS of small white feather
dusters growing over most of my live rock.
Is this a GOOD sign, bad sign or what? What should I do? I do like them, if
it makes any differeance, I just am not sure if I should be concerned.
Suppose you had the money...16 Nov 2003 17:37 GMT6
Let's say you have a budget of $700.00 to spend on lighting and you wanted a
48" "hood" with 300 - 500 watts of light (MH).
What would you get if you wanted to keep clams and other "light demanding"
creatures?
what's the point?16 Nov 2003 16:05 GMT1
What's to be gained? Have all the ramf posters on this list done
something very wrong to cause such vengeance?  Is it just someone off
his meds reaching out into the great bland defenceless void of
newsgroups, a shooter of sitting ducks? It's more sad than annoying,
This is SOOOO weird16 Nov 2003 15:11 GMT1
Really creepy.  The huge coral-banded shrimp shed his skin in its
entirety, and the empty thing is still moving!  The real live fresh
shrimp is in his cave, within sight of this ghost.  It really is weird
looking.
Toadfish16 Nov 2003 09:11 GMT5
Here's an interesting photo of a toadfish that I made recently.  This
little guy lives in an aquarium at our local science museum.  He was
right up against the glass for a great photo opportunity :)

Ocellaris and/or Percula Clownfish16 Nov 2003 07:40 GMT2
My wife is dead set on getting "nemo" (personally I would rather get minnows
or danios).
I would probably get the Percula Clownfish.  I've already found some info on
its requirements (pH, specific gravity, temp)
New Sump 15 Nov 2003 23:25 GMT1
I installed a new sump two weeks ago. It restes in a custom box made by
US Plastics. I feel very slight moisture around the back corner where
the return line goes in but can not say it is actually leaking.
The tank is in  a large room, I run 1 150w and 2 250w bulbs about 10 and

scratched acrylic shield in light fixture15 Nov 2003 14:53 GMT4
Hello;
The acrylic shield in my light fixture (Coralife Aqualight) has scuffs
and scratches in it that can't be removed with water and household
cleaners.  Can anyone recommend how to remove them?  Or if I should
Small Starfish15 Nov 2003 05:36 GMT3
I have been in the SW hobby for a few years now and things seem to be going
well.  My wife has been bugging me about starfish and I was wondering if
there were any good small reef safe starfish available?  My tank is a 25 gal
flatback hex with a 10 gallon sump and numerous softies ...
Corals disilike water change?15 Nov 2003 05:28 GMT4
I have, intermittently, had corals react very poorly to water changes, to the
point of actually having some dieback.  I have made sure that the temperature,
salinity, etc. are all within proper limits.  I also do the water changes in a
matter of minutes so the pumps are not off for ...

get from using it in my tank?
