pH/ORP meter maintenance14 Nov 2003 23:57 GMT18
When monitoring pH in a fish tank with a regular glass electrode
how often do you clean/calibrate it? How long can single electrode
last before you need to replace it for a new one? What about ORP?
How to make the overflow a bit more quiet14 Nov 2003 18:49 GMT9
I've got an Oceanic 75 system I bought used. The tank has an in-tank
overflow, which is really loud. Not in a pleasent cascading water sort
of way, but in a never-ending flushing toilet sort of way. The sump is
pretty quiet, but the process of water falling into the tube is the
Buying an aquarium14 Nov 2003 18:29 GMT1
Hello, my name is Evan. I would like to know what a reasonable price
for a 20 gallon saltwater tank is, I am also interested in what you
think a 20 gallon freshwater would cost. My lfs is offering $170 for a
20 gallon freshwater tank (includes: stand, tank, filter, gravel,
Anenome14 Nov 2003 18:01 GMT4
I got a bubble anemone and the lady at the lfs who sold it to me said to put
him in the water and he would decide where to go. I placed him on a rock but
the current sort of moved him around the side before he 'caught' on. Now he
is on the side and not getting much of the light. ...

How to quieten a Bakpak?13 Nov 2003 18:53 GMT5
I just got my CPR bakpak.  It seems a little loud to me.  It's a good bit
louder than the Penguin Biowheel that I am going to phase out.  Is there
any good way to adjust this so it is quieter?
Thanks,
Long-term success with Calcareous Tubeworm?13 Nov 2003 17:45 GMT1
I purchased a red tubeworm ( Annelida; Polychaeta; Serpulidae)
approximately 5 months ago.  Apparently these type of organisms do
best with directed feeding.  I do observe it occassionally apparently
feeding by curling up its feathers, as well as expelling its small
What happened to reefaquariumguide.com ????13 Nov 2003 16:45 GMT7
I visited www.reefaquariumguide.com (aka RAG) just last week and have
found it unavailable for several days now. Anyone know what happened
to the site? I've found it very useful on several occasions.

What order to add critters?13 Nov 2003 14:25 GMT7
Well, my new 75G tank is set up, heaters @ 77 degrees F, skimmer,
powerheads, 1.025 salinity, 4x96W lighting.  Eventually I plan that this
will be a fish and reef setup.  75Lbs of live rock (cured) and live sand
arrives tomorrow.  Even though it's cured, I'm expecting it may take ...
Red Hair Algae13 Nov 2003 05:47 GMT2
Quick Question.
I have an opportunity to pick up some LR pretty cheap.  Problem is, it's got
this red hair all over it.  I have not seen this anywhere before.  Is it
algae?  Should I avoid it?  I have a decent cleaning crew and I think they
Chillers13 Nov 2003 05:17 GMT3
After setting up a 90 gallon long reef tank with a sump that holds about 20
gallons, it is apparent that I will be needing a chiller.  The tank is
upstairs in my den, has two 250 watt metal halides plus two 96 watt actinic
power compacts.  I have two fans on the hood, one blowing ...
Tank cushion?13 Nov 2003 03:38 GMT20
Hi;
I read about putting some kind of pad under a tank to even out the pressures
from the stand and tank bottom but no one gives the material.
What sort of material?  Styrofoam?
Best Place for Lights?13 Nov 2003 03:34 GMT5
Hi all, I have been looking in to Metal Halide lights and I think I am going
to take the DIY approach.  In your experience, what is the best place to
deal with in lights?  I found hellolights.com and I like them a lot.  Are
there any other good ones?
Marine aquarium setup13 Nov 2003 03:23 GMT7
I am new to marine aquaria, and would like some basic help if possible.
I have at present two tropical aquaria, but would like to set-up a marine
aquarium.
I have been advised many different things by my two local aquarium centres.
Ich in a Reef13 Nov 2003 00:29 GMT11
I had a problem a year ago with either Crypto or amyloodinium.  After
following numerous suggestions (including Moe) I left the tank without
fish for 6+ months.
When I recently put new fish in, they showed signs of the parasite
