Identification help09 Dec 2003 23:45 GMT2
I have had an explosion of growth in my CPR skimmer of all places. They are
little white "blobs" or egg shaped things for lack of a better description,
with a crown on top , they are the weirdest things I have seen, they look
like an oval with a fuzzy little crown on top, any ...
Mail order during cold weather?09 Dec 2003 22:35 GMT7
I live in the Northeast (LI) and am wondering if ordering livestock
(inverts hermits/snails/shrimp , coral, and fish) is wise during the
cold months.
Any experience out there (of course there is) or advice on which MO to
Ghost Anemone?09 Dec 2003 20:00 GMT8
Recently, I was viewing my reef at night with a flash light around
2:00am and I found something really wierd.  It looked like a small anemone
but it was so transparent you can not see it in direct light.  I had to use
the indirect light (the outter ring) from the flash light to ...

I have a power compact with 96 watt bulbs they consist of two bulbs
for daylight and two actinic.

High levels of Alk and Ca.08 Dec 2003 23:11 GMT4
Several weeks ago I purchased two new test kits for these properties. The
process of testing was new to me and subsequently I interpreted the results
on both tests wrong. (Basically it boiled down to, was the more titrant i
put in the higher the results should be. I.e. I took final ...

This is my reef tank that I am having for about over a years now. I am
still learning new things through this news group every day, and I truely
appreciate it to whom ever that had advised me or give me suggestion. That
is the only way to improve ourselves and learn more about the ...
29g, possible to drill it?08 Dec 2003 20:17 GMT9
I know I keep adding new facets to my plan, but all in hopes of doing it
right/better for the long run....
I'd like to drill out my 29 for an overflow, and I know I could do it
myself, just wondering where to get the drill bits for that large of an
Power Head ?08 Dec 2003 20:13 GMT4
Hey I am new to starting a reef tank, I just bought a power head from my
LFS. The guy at the store told me I could lower it into my tank so that it's
about 3 or 4 inches from the bottom to provide a good movement of the water.
My question is that the only way to do that is to drop ...
Stocking levels and skimmers (newbie)08 Dec 2003 17:17 GMT1
What skimmer is your preffered favorite?  I just got a used Berlin
Classic for my 50 gallon.  that makes foam about half the time since
it's been set up (only 5 days now).  I was talking around and heard of
the Reef Devil and the Evolution 500 and thought they sounded a bit

swimming upside down off and on throughout the day. Is it going to die?

Overdrive T-5?08 Dec 2003 05:06 GMT1
How much can one overdrive T-5 lights?  The exact situation is actually
a bit odd...  My contractor built the front part of the soffet that will
hold my light fixture with a couple pieces of wood that support the
front, but the rear doesn't have those.  The rear has 49" of space
