Have a new reef tank which was filled 5 days ago - water tests seem ok
except for high KH which I'm not sure what to do about. It's possible too
much buffer was added by the supplier who installed my tank.
100 gallon tank with Ratz sump/trickle filter/skimmer/calc reactor. Tank

if i put a glass top on my aquarium about 1/4" above the water level will it
hinder the gas exchange? It won't cover the whole top, I need about 2" at
the back for the wires and hoses and such..
my water surface is pretty turbulant, but I'm wondering if having the glass

I have 2 175 Icecaps and 2 blue moons why is it that 50 % of the time
the Icecaps are broken , shorted or back for repair and no trouble with
the Bluemoons?

Hi Ya,
I just got a 240 and have now had it set up for two months.  I have a
euroreef 8-3 skimmer.  Will that be good enough or do I need to get
something bigger and better?

I am using a cascade 1500 with matrix biofilter media. I was wondering if I
should run the filter without the filter pads that came with it, or run it
with them in? I removed the carbon baggie [as per the lfs advise], but kept
just in case. Any suggestions?

I am currently topping off my evaporation with kalk.  The kalk is pumped
into the display tank using a medical pump.  I also incorperate a sump for
my setup.  The sump contains my euroreef cs1, the refugiumand the return
pump.  Does it make any difference at all to pump kalk in the ...

I am building a closed loop system powered by a Velocity T-3 (800 gph) using

I believe my peppermint shrimp, who was great fun to watch, became dinner
last week. I thought he shed his shell again, but apparently that was all
that was left of him.
So, who's the culprit?

I was watching a documentry tonight and they said the coral on the great
barrier reef spawn only on the night of a full moon during November only.
Do use guys/girls with coral tanks ever get spawning ? or do you ever
see it ?, or do we have to simulate the moon light on that night ...

Hi, I was intersted in making my own tanks... but i have some
questions...
1.  What kind of silicon do I use?
2.  Where can I get the plastic top and bottom rims that hold the tank

in a new tank, it's been up for probably a month, when should I expect the
nitrites/nitrates to go down? Is there any way I can help it out or speed it
up?

This will probably be a stupid question, but when adding "Live Rock" to my
tank, what do I need to do?  Do I need to add supplements to the water?

My Tank has been up for about 9 weeks now and everything seems to be doing
great though we only have one domino damsel, with about 80 pounds of live
rock. Well today when me and the wife got home from work we always check on
the new adittion to the family and we noticed these little ...

I wanted to attache a leather to a rock and used an elastic, after I
asked myself if it could be bad for wather? What do you suggest?
