Is it okay to scrape off the purple algae from the glass?

Am I just unlucky with them, or are they really messed up?
What is your experience with this company?

Hey all, long time no see...
I am getting ready to purchase or build a small sump, maybe 10-20 gallon. I
would like to put a skimmer in it and I am having difficulty researching.
I was wondering if anyone had any luck, good or otherwise, with any models.

Just got done building the tank stand, but noticed a gap between the tank
and the stand, just enough for a penny to slide under it. does anyone see
