Choosing a skimmer - concerned about tuning26 Dec 2003 02:37 GMT7
I have a 180gal FO tank that is running without a skimmer, currently
relying on a wet/dry and live rock.   I want to add a skimmer to get the
water quality up and to help battle phosphates and algea.  My stand is only
26 1/4" from the floor to the bottom of the tank.  I have ...
Blue Tang ... is it sick?26 Dec 2003 02:11 GMT5
Came home late from work tonight, and decided to turn the lights on in order
to try and feed the fish. When I switched it on, noticed that my blue tang
(3-year old named her Dory, of course) was lying against a rock at the
bottom, gills barely moving. I heard this behavior is normal ...

Sand Bed question25 Dec 2003 22:27 GMT11
Is the sand used in a deep sand bed like that on the beach (light in
colour)?, Or are we talking about something more like what you see near a
river or creak (dark in colour)?
Can the live sand be obtained simply by going to the beach or is it only
Moving an aquarium25 Dec 2003 17:09 GMT7
I will be moving this weekend and need some advice on how to move my
aquarium safely and without too much trouble. I have a small FOWLR tank
(10gal) with 1 porcupine puffer and 4 blue leg hermit crabs. The only
problem that I see is that the puffer will freak out if I were to net ...
positioning Rocks25 Dec 2003 15:33 GMT12
Can someone tell me if I have my rocks set up in the right way IF there is a
right way. I see that a lot of people sort of stack them all in the middle
and I haven't done them that way so I want to be sure that I am not harming
or hindering any growth with my current set up.
Painting back of tank?25 Dec 2003 15:27 GMT9
Anyone done this?
I'd like to paint the *outside* of the rear pane.
Can I safely do this with the tank running? (I promise not to clean
the roller in the tank).

Old DAS revamp25 Dec 2003 12:38 GMT5
Has anyone any experience with revamping and remodeling the older model DAS tank with the "glued in" filter box and square airstone "box skimmer", and I use the term skimmer in it's loosest sense.  lol
I'm interested in removing the box entirely and converting to a sump.  Anyone ...
Automatic feeding suggestions needed (marine)25 Dec 2003 00:54 GMT2
Hi.  I'm going to be out of town from the middle of next week until the
middle of the following week, about 7 days.  I have a petsitter who comes in
to take care of my cats and other stuff, but they only come once a day.
To feed my marine (fish only) tank, I purchased a Penn-Plax ...

Cold water marine from local beach24 Dec 2003 17:24 GMT9
Can anyone suggest if it possible to set up a marine tank with seawater
and washed up plants from a local beach? If so how to go about it.
I made an attempt recently where 3 little purple starfish, a cockle/clam
and a snail where washed up but still alive after a storm at my ...

live rock/sand24 Dec 2003 03:13 GMT8
can I use liverock and sand that I collect from my scuba diving trips to the
gulf in my tank? Will the rock/sand have to be cured even if I leave the
items in sea water the whole time. I am starting a new sw tank and would
like to place sand/rock directly in tank with no other fish.
