Light intensity on the Earth surface16 Jan 2004 04:43 GMT6
Anybody here has some data for the amount of light that hits
the earth (ocean?) surface in the tropical areas? How much
of that is ultraviolet? How does that compare to amount
of light from MH/HQI bulbs not protected with "UV stop"?

Colt Coral ...16 Jan 2004 04:09 GMT4
A friend of mine gave me my first coral - a brown & white colt coral.
The speciman given to me was fairly large, and due to the nature of
the cut I segmented it into 2 frags - the first one is about 3" high,
and the second one is about 6" high.

Building my first sump16 Jan 2004 01:24 GMT7
I want to build a sump for my 55gallon, it is not predrilled and I
can't/won't drill it, mainly due to the fact that it is already setup with
some soft corals and live rock. I looked at the LFS today and they have 20
gallon high on sale for $21.99 which I thought was not bad. But is ...

Hello gang!

New Marine Aquarium - is Whisper 3 good enough?16 Jan 2004 00:29 GMT8
I just got my 55 gallon marine aquarium up and running. I just went to
the store to get some damsels and some gravel to start the cycling
process. While there the guy told me that the cheap Whisper 3 (60)
that came with the aquarium is not good enough to support a saltwater

I had a 75 reef for about 5 years, had to move and sell it a while back.

beta in it.
I've started wondering what it would take to do a nano reef.  I googled the
