Problem with Low Alkalinity10 Jan 2004 18:08 GMT4
I was just doing some measurements on my fishtank and my Ph is at 8.1
and my Calcium at 370.  I've never managed to get it this high
actually, it's usually around 340.  I'm not sure what's holding it
down and my magnesium is around 1050.  Anyway, I tested my kh and it's

I'm getting ready to move from Georgia to Maine (approx 1300 miles) and i
was wondering what the best way to transport my livestock. Its a 2 day drive

How Many Fish?10 Jan 2004 16:13 GMT2
Let's say you have a 75 gallon system with 85lbs of live rock, 4 inches of
live sand and a protein skimmer as your filtration. You want a system that
is mostly fish with a few invertebrates, besides the clean up crew. What
would be max amount of fish, in inches, that such a setup ...
Crushed Coral10 Jan 2004 03:15 GMT2
I removed the crushed coral from my tank and replaced it with a fine sand, I
was wondering that with the crushed coral if I put some of it in a bucket of
fresh water with a low pH, will the calcium leach back out and if so can I
use that fresh water to do the top off's on the tank ...
Changing Filtration in established tank.10 Jan 2004 03:04 GMT5
I've been thinking of changing the filtration in my 75 gallon FOWLR tank to
the Berlin method. Water tests indicate my tank has 0 ppm ammonia and
nitrite. However, Nitrate hovers around 40 ppm. To maintain nitrates at
that level requires I change 20 - 30 gallons of water per month.

Like watching grass grow...09 Jan 2004 16:46 GMT9
First I thought the research phase would take forever- it seemed I would
never get a handle on the most basic of reef issues.
Then came the assembling- waiting for equipment shipments and redoing the
plumbing yet again- it seemed an uphill battle just to get two aquariums
New photos09 Jan 2004 09:44 GMT1
I have added a couple of new photos to the reef section and the cichlid
section.  Stop by and take a look, and let me know what you think.  I
will be adding breeding photo's of fresh and salt water this weekend, so
stayed tuned.  If at any time you see a photo and would like to ...
marineland magnum 35009 Jan 2004 07:36 GMT4
Anyone use one of these? I saw one at work and thought it was nifty because
it's just a powerhead with a micron filter in it! I thought it'd be
wonderful since I don't have a sump. Anyone have any experience with this?
assembling tank 09 Jan 2004 06:45 GMT6
i have 12mm glass cut to size to make a tank 1400mm long 760mm deep and
600mm wide I am wondering how hard it actually is to silicon these type
tanks together as i would feel such an accomplishment to have built every
thing myself from scratch
Green Hair Algae09 Jan 2004 06:20 GMT7
I've followed CapFusion's suggestions, mostly feeding more.  I can see
green and red in the sand bed and a few strands in -of all places- the
lip of the powerhead's outlet.  There are also some green spots on the
magnet, but that's it.  Early on, I was assured by I don't remember ...

Skimmer time08 Jan 2004 23:11 GMT3
I need an in sump skimmer with a foot print of about 5"by5" for a 75
gallon reef. Is there such a thing? I've got a pro clear aquatics
wet/dry thats been running skimmerless for a long time, and I would
like to be able to feed corals more often without worrying about my
