FNG question.  Sorta.08 Jan 2004 04:14 GMT5
I have a friend that is looking to buy a saltwater aquarium (fish only).  He
asked me questions 'cause I have a 29g fresh tank setup in my LR.  Weelll,
to make a long story short, I've got the reef bug again.  The last time I
had it I was in college.  Please don't ask how long ago!
I love this hobby!08 Jan 2004 01:30 GMT12
Last night, I picked up a tank raised True Percula from Gary.  It was chased out
of his display by some mean clowns, and was living in his sump.  Very small in
size, I think this is part of Andy's first brood of clownfish.
I added it to my 29g late last night after lights were out, ...
Ammonia08 Jan 2004 00:41 GMT2
What is the point where ammonia is really dangerous for inverts?
I lost an anemone and it caused a mini cycle.
My ammonia was at .25ppm.  I removed the body and did a 25% water change.
Ammonia is about .15ppm now.  (maybe a smidge higher)
Environmental Damage?08 Jan 2004 00:26 GMT2
I  just posted a reef question earlier, but I forgot my most important
question. My biggest concern is the environmental impact of this hobby. I
have seen websites for companies that have tank-raised specimens, and that
sounds good to me. I just could not stand contributing to ...
Automatic feeder recommendations?07 Jan 2004 22:43 GMT9
I've got a 90 gal system under my care; right now it's fish only with a
few Hermit Crabs, and Snails will go in any day now... I'm still working
on water chemistry to get it just right before any sensitive inverts go
in.

We are in the process of setting up a new marine tank (about 1 week into the

The tank is 1220 mm long by 350 mm wide by 450mm deep.
We have an Eheim 2217 filter (about 1000 litres per hour) with ceramic rings

Kent Maxxima RO/DI unit07 Jan 2004 00:48 GMT6
Does anyone have a Kent Maxxima Ro/DI unit running off of a regular sink
faucet, and running deep well water through it? I just got mine, and
I'm having trouble getting product water. I'm getting 90% waste water.
If anyones got one of these post and let me know if you had any ...
Ecosystem Nano Reef07 Jan 2004 00:04 GMT10
There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief...
I used to keep fish and I am interested in starting a 15-30 gallon or
so reef with the Ecosystem method. I hear so many conflicting opinions
about it that I am completely confused. I have a friend with a similar
Poly Filters Re-usable?06 Jan 2004 23:10 GMT1
I bought some poly filters and put them in my wet dry system and they turned
blue color (almost blue-green) Can I soak these in freshwater and re-use
them? Do they turn white again after soaking them?
Thanks in advance!

Phosphate Sponge Pros & Cons05 Jan 2004 23:33 GMT2
I've been having trouble with green algae growth on my sand bed the last
couple months.  I feed very little, my lights are only on about 10 hours a
day and my skimmer is working great.  My crabs and sand sifting star do a
pretty good job of keeping things mixed up but I have to ...
