Sterilite ClearView containers28 Jan 2004 18:54 GMT10
I was thinking about using Sterilite ClearView containers
available in Walmart and other places for my sump/refugium.
They are cheap as dirt and in nice sizes suiting my cabinet.
The only thing they lack is dividers... I was thinking

I have a hood with 3 15" strips and I want to know what 3 bulbs would be
ideal for a small reef tank? I was thinking one white, 1 actinic, and 1
50/50.

When Waiting Nitrate Cycle Should I ?28 Jan 2004 17:47 GMT2
I'm going to be setting up a new tank (55 gal)in a week or so, and I
understand that I need to add Amquel to remove the cloramine,(going to
mix my own salt from tap water)  However the Amquel also removes
Ammonia.
copper or uv?28 Jan 2004 16:35 GMT3
I'm creating a quarantine tank to stop the ich cycle. What are your
thoughts on using copper vs. a uv sterilizer? Apparently, I can't use
both?

I will have an 80g on a stand with a six-inch light canopy above it.

Salt brands28 Jan 2004 15:37 GMT45
Since last Febuary I have been nurturing a small reef tank (15 gal.),
I realizre that this was way way to small to start with, but in almost
a year I have only had 3 fatalities, and none of them due to water
conditions (knock on wood).

A.B.A.?28 Jan 2004 11:23 GMT3
I am unable to get Alt.bin.aquaria, using Netscape.  Is there another
source or is this determined solely by isp and would therfore be
unobtainable by me by any other browser?  I like to look at tank pics
and I think I'm missing a lot.
Dead Squid (SCWD)28 Jan 2004 08:21 GMT6
I have purchased a SCWD from Inland Reef Aquaria and am having real problems
with it, I cant get it to switch direction unless I hold a finger over the
low (at that moment) output, it will switch once then stop,
I can hear a quiet whirring noise if I put my ear next to the SCWD but ...

Great minds DON'T think alike28 Jan 2004 00:07 GMT6
Also, some not so great minds disagree.  During the seven weeks since I
set up my nano tank, I have read or scanned every book written in the
past five - sometimes more - years on the subject of mini reefs that I
could find in the public and university libraries here, as well a ...
