Euroreef ES5-2 and sump/refugium for a 75 gallon?20 Feb 2004 00:03 GMT11
So is this the ideal choice? A 75 gallon reef with a yet to be
determined sump of about 15 yo 30 gallons. Says it's rated for 90
gallons but usually these estimates are...optamistic at best. If this
is not the best what is in that same price range for this sort of

lighting and coral positioning19 Feb 2004 07:15 GMT1
I have just started a new tank (4 months ago) from equipment and live rock I
had in an old 6 foot tank but I'm having a few problems.  the nitrates were
right through the roof for a while but now I've got them to below 20ppm.  my
lighting is 36W actinic (just replaced 2 weeks ago), ...
Crab identification - coral eater?19 Feb 2004 06:32 GMT2
I've just added a replacement toadstool coral to my tank after the
first one died a smelly death. Something was eating it and I thought
it might have been a nudibranch (which I've removed). However two days
after putting in the new one I noticed a big chunk missing from it. My
converting to dsb18 Feb 2004 19:29 GMT4
I started up my tank a few months ago, and used a mix of crushed aragonite
small gravel and crushed coral.  Since then I've read how its not a good
thing to use different size substrate, and also the benefits of DSB's.  I
want to convert to a DSB in segments of the tank at a time, ...

If you use any of their products and need replacement parts or it
breaks, you're 100% screwed.
Strange gases....?18 Feb 2004 07:28 GMT11
I saw something odd in my tank last night. I've had a horrible problem
with cyano (red slime) from day one (2 year old 46g FOWLR), and the last
3 months plagued with orange slime (dinoflagellates?) as well.  But last
night I saw fairly sizable bubbles (size of beebees) on the side ...

euro-reef es5-2 skimmer18 Feb 2004 00:46 GMT1
Hi everyone.  I've got a 48g tank with a 33g tank for a sump, just wondering
if anyone has used these new euroreef skimmers? I'm wondering if I should
spend a little more and get the 90g skimmer over the 75g skimmer...is there
such thing as "over skimming"?
Lighting Times?18 Feb 2004 00:23 GMT2
I was wondering what time length I should run my lights for?  I run compact
fluorescents at 65watts each bulb.  4 bulbs total 2 being  Daylight and 2 being
blue.  How long should I have the daylights on and then how long the blues?
Should I have the daylight and blues on at the ...
What's a good price for a 65 gallon tank?18 Feb 2004 00:17 GMT8
I have been looking for an AGA 65g tank at one of the few lfs and they are
asking $180.   I don't have any idea if this is a good or bad price.   So
far this is the only lfs that even has one on hand, but I'm guessing they
could order one for me.   It is 36x18x24, I need that size ...

Talk about "stray" electricity... (long, but possibly worth it)17 Feb 2004 09:00 GMT9
Holy crap!  I saw one of my snails looking a little "odd" last night.
I had just removed some of my "weeds" from my tank the night before
(macroalgae that is growing like crazy).
I thought that maybe the poor guy (astrea) had fallen and needed some
