Problem with skimmer:  no air bubbles12 Apr 2004 22:50 GMT1
I have a 75 gallon salt water tank with a Berlin protein skimmer
attached to the wet dry .  The tank has been up and running for over 2
years now, and the skimmer worked great for a while.
Recently the pump "died" so I installed a replacement pump and it
Sailfin blenny in minireef?12 Apr 2004 20:10 GMT6
I've gotten the inspiration to take a big step into marine
fishkeeping.  I've had a 45 gallon freshwater tank for a year now and
just don't have room in my 610 sq foot apartment for anything larger
than the 16 gallon bowfront tank I'm cycling right now.
kalk idea (has anyone experemented with this)12 Apr 2004 18:51 GMT1
Has anyone tried the following or comment on the idea:
- dosing Kalk mixed with existing saltwater rather than freshwater?
(ie take a litre out and drip it back in over time)
(for maybe those who can't evaporate enough water)

I am setting up a 10 gallon quarantine tank. I bought a Penguin Mini
Power filter w/bio-wheel. My question is this. Did I make a mistake
getting the Bio- wheel.. For Example, I buy a fish and during
quaratine it turns out to be sick and dies. Will the Bio-Wheel have to

A warning about one LFS in Chicago city11 Apr 2004 16:36 GMT2
I visited "Ocean Design" store today - it is in Chicago,
at Irving Park Rd. I have seen $24 cleaner shrimps with
common black spot disease - all were infested with it!
The same symptoms mine shrimp died from a couple weeks ago.
desication of Cobalt Sulfate heptahydrate11 Apr 2004 09:51 GMT1
May CoSO4.7H2O be desicated at room temperature without loss of the waters of crystalization?  This material is quite hygroscopic, and I need a way to keep the material at its formula weight, without adsorbed atmospheric water.

Where can I buy this?11 Apr 2004 04:11 GMT5
I was in my LFS and he had a F/O tank set up with fake coral, about
18-24" tall. Very impressive. However he was selling them for about $200
each. Needless to say they go in a large tank. Where can I get these
cheap on the internet.
Fish from Internet11 Apr 2004 01:17 GMT10
I ordered a Dottyback, 3 lettuce slugs and a Linkia Star from an Internet
site last week.   The Dottyback arrived floating, no gill action at all.
I'm still trying to acclimate her by dripping in a bucket, the water was
blue, so I'm assuming they packed her with some sort of acetone ...
