Live Sand Online10 Apr 2004 15:38 GMT4
Hello All :)
I'm considering ordering some LS online, trying to build a DSB in a
mini-reef. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on some of the better
places to order it, I've seen so many it's hard to decide. I'm located in
cleaner shrimp dead :(10 Apr 2004 02:51 GMT7
Just an update to a post made a few weeks ago...
I had posted about my cleaner shrimp doing badly.  Just sitting in one spot,
looking off color (at the time he/she looked like it had eggs - that
apparently was not related).  I removed him from the tank and put him in a
Using Carbon in Reefs10 Apr 2004 00:10 GMT20
Can someone school me on what the deal is with using Carbon in a reef?
Is it bad?  Does it remove or add phosphates?
Basically, what are the Pros and Cons?
TIA

  Hello;

and 2x 160w vho actinic. I'm thinking of going up to 220. I have a couple of
clams doing well in the present setup as well as a variety of soft and sps

How much is too much?08 Apr 2004 20:22 GMT4
I was curious to know if anyone else out there periodically discovers water
under their sump?  Not a lot of water, just enough to fit between the
cabinet floor and the sump.  I seem to have a very small leak and can't find
any evidence.  The only way I know I have water under the ...
Encourage coraline growth?08 Apr 2004 06:44 GMT9
Can this be done? They guy at my LFS didn't seem to think there was
anything you could to encourage coraline to spread and grow. Was he
right?
Pulsing Xenia08 Apr 2004 05:50 GMT9
I need to trim up my ever expanding Xenia.
https://home.comcast.net/~kensn/images/xenia2.jpg Has anyone here done this?
What was your method? Were you successful? I have read of securing the Xenia
to a rock with a rubberband and a toothpick, and glueing base to a rock. Was
Tank cover08 Apr 2004 05:42 GMT6
This may be a dumb question. Are there any problems with using acrylic as a
tank cover with the light hood above it? In other words, will the acryllic
filter out any important light wavelengths? Is glass better or worse for
this purpose and why?
Beginner's Questions ( long)08 Apr 2004 04:27 GMT1
I want to start a 10 gallon. I saw a beautiful 10 gallon setup here:
http://members.tripod.com/~rbrducky/10.html.
I am thinking of doing the following:
Using florida crushed coral as substrate instead of live sand
Tank Size07 Apr 2004 22:58 GMT6
What would be the smallest tank size for a refugium/skimmer/dsb setup with
ls/lr/coral and fish?
I would like to learn on smaller system before I tackle a large (100 gall+)
setup where the investment in the contents would be an expensive loss in
Where can I purchase pH probes for resale?07 Apr 2004 05:47 GMT3
Where can I purchase pH probes for resale, at a good price (need to be
competitive with online sources). I need Standard Grade and Lab grade
probes for use in salt and fresh water, dual use if possible.
Now many hours per week?07 Apr 2004 05:28 GMT6
How many hours per week do you spend maintaining your acquarium?  I'm
very interesting in starting this hobby but would like to get a
realistic idea of how much time it takes to maintain, say, a 75 gal
system.
Ammonia off the chart!07 Apr 2004 05:12 GMT3
I'm in the process of curing LR for my FOWLR and recently performed an
ammonia test.  The test (new) only goes to 8 ppm and in less than 3 minutes,
the test sample showed at least 8 ppm.  Due to the size of the tank and the
rate of my RO, a quick 50% water change is somewhere along ...
