Protien Skimmer Problem07 Apr 2004 00:43 GMT4
I have had a successful FOWLR setup for a year now and have decided to
convert it over to a reef tank. One of the things I never bought was a
protien skimmer. The problem is that when I originally set up my tank
I never planned on a 5-7" skimmer hanging off the back. My tank is
Protein Skimmer Question (Newbie)06 Apr 2004 17:11 GMT10
Hi all! I just setup my saltwater tank March 31st. It is a 55 gal tank with
30 lbs of live rock and 40 lbs of live sand. Filtration for now is handled
by 1 Penguin 330 Power filter with bio wheel and 1 Whisper 60 Power filter.
The protein skimmer is a Jebo 180 Hang on Tank model. ...
Hobby, my a**06 Apr 2004 14:48 GMT6
I bought 20 more pounds of LR for my 75g FOWLR, and a handful of
shells for my hermits. I put in the shells and situated the rock,
then settled in to watch, several hermits decided to move into a new
home almost immediately. The rock was teeming with life, pods, worms,

Glass baffles06 Apr 2004 09:33 GMT5
I'm building a 15 gal sump (all-glass 15-High) and everything I've been
researching talks about  installing the acrylic baffles.  I just went to
the hardware store and I see acrylic is pretty pricey, whereas glass is way
cheap by comparison.

Coraline algae help!!!!!!06 Apr 2004 03:18 GMT3
I have a small saltwater tank (10 gallons) with two clownfish, 4 astea snails,
and 4 dwarf hermit crabs.  I put 4 pounds of Fiji live rock into the aquarium
about six weeks ago.   The purple color of the coraline algae was a nice
addition to the aquarium, but it seems to be dying.  ...
ARGH! Mantis shrimp have bred!05 Apr 2004 21:00 GMT4
Yes, it's true. I have been fiddling with this x-terminator mantis trap, and
although I succeeded in catching my gorilla crab, I have at least 2 mantis
still in my 40 gallon and now they have bred. I noticed an unusual amount of
clicking the night before, so much so that I was ...

My blue tang has been in my tank now for around 2 weeks ... about 1
week ago i thought he developed ich (being some almost microscopic
white particles on his belly).. They are now gone with no trace.

LR question05 Apr 2004 13:11 GMT2
How much live rock would my 75 gallon need to eliminate the need for
alternate biological filtration? I have about 60lbs right now.

i am new to this hobby of marine fishkeeping. i am at  present a
discus- keeper for some 7 years and i know in the discus trade, who
you get your livestock from is the foundation for success. there is
alot of bad discus stock out there.
Safe plumbing epoxy?05 Apr 2004 03:01 GMT1
Doing some pvc work to plumb a sump/refugium. Is any pvc cement for the
fittings ok to use in reef tank work?
Minimum Recommended Tank Size04 Apr 2004 18:17 GMT1
How small a tank can one have for LS/LR/Corals and Fish? I'm thinking of
starting on a smaller one and learning instead of possibly having an
(expensive) disaster in my 100 gallon display tank.
I would set it up just the same (refugium, heater, skimmer, lighting, etc)
