noisy CPR bakpak question12 May 2004 04:09 GMT1
Just purchased my first skimmer, A CPR Bakpak.  It's skimming nicely and
creating all sorts of brown goop in the collector cup.  However, I
have a question about the noise level.  Are all CPR skimmers loud?  I
have it on a timer and run it while I'm at work so I don't have to
Ready For Reefing?12 May 2004 04:06 GMT3
12 months ago, I set up a 75 gallon FOWLR tank as a finishing touch to our
remodeled basement. I was into tropical years ago and always wanted a marine
tank. After a lot of learning and some casualties, I think my tank is
stable. Thanks to all for the help and advice so far. I ...

since getting  a couple of corals a few months back I've noticed what I
thought were nuddibranchs but now know are sea slugs. any corals that
they've frequented have suddenly without warning closed up and died.
should I remove these pest or are they harmless enough.
alternate source for sand11 May 2004 07:21 GMT7
All I can find around here is silica sand, while I'm aware it will
work, I'd prefer to use the calcium sand. I live in the Pacific NW,
so Southdown Play Sand isn't an option. Any ideas for places to try?
AGA Megaflow w/DSB11 May 2004 05:16 GMT8
I was planning on adding a 5" DSB to my new AGA 180 gallon, but the
overflows have three rows of slots to admit water.  The bottom row is only
4" above the bottom of the tank, so a 5" DSB would submerge them.  This
isn't a major problem in itself, but does anyone know if it will ...

satisfied with their purchase of a RO DI system off Ebay and the details
etc.

What kind of Cheap light good for Refuge?10 May 2004 18:17 GMT6
I would like to get a good light setup on the Refugium, its a converted 6
gallon wetdry with not much room for top light, thinking about side light.
Or shoudl i remove the lid which prevents more evaporation and just let the
light shine on it.  I have a huge evaporation problem here ...
Green Coloured water - is it ??10 May 2004 13:50 GMT5
I had a 20 litre white/transparent plastic bottle outside on my porch under
cover filled with old water from my tank, it had been sitting there for
maybe a week or 2. This afternoon I want to empty the bottle for my trip out
to collect some new sea water, but I noticed it was very ...

Bumble Bee Snails09 May 2004 23:03 GMT4
I have heard mixed reviews about bumble bee snails in the reef aquaria.  Are
they fine to have, or would it be something I should avoid?

Green water---   UV needed ???????08 May 2004 15:01 GMT4
Whenever I do a water change, the water that I remove always has a hint of
green.
I've been using carbon/phosphate removers on and off, but this doesn't seem
to get rid of the green.

Zeolite by Korrallin08 May 2004 07:00 GMT3
What's the opinion of the group on this method of reefing.
There are a few Aussies doing the zeolite thing now and it appears to be
going well for them so far.
I used PO4- a few years ago by these guys and I'd imagine that the
Blind Clarkii ?08 May 2004 05:55 GMT1
I have a Clarkii which I bought around February. He's
roughly 2-2.5 inches long now. He looks as healthy as
ever but in the past several days he seems as though he's
in a stupor of some sort. Almost to the point of acting as
