| noisy CPR bakpak question | 12 May 2004 04:09 GMT | 1 |
Just purchased my first skimmer, A CPR Bakpak. It's skimming nicely and creating all sorts of brown goop in the collector cup. However, I have a question about the noise level. Are all CPR skimmers loud? I have it on a timer and run it while I'm at work so I don't have to

12 months ago, I set up a 75 gallon FOWLR tank as a finishing touch to our remodeled basement. I was into tropical years ago and always wanted a marine tank. After a lot of learning and some casualties, I think my tank is stable. Thanks to all for the help and advice so far. I ...

| alternate source for sand | 11 May 2004 07:21 GMT | 7 |
All I can find around here is silica sand, while I'm aware it will work, I'd prefer to use the calcium sand. I live in the Pacific NW, so Southdown Play Sand isn't an option. Any ideas for places to try?

| AGA Megaflow w/DSB | 11 May 2004 05:16 GMT | 8 |
I was planning on adding a 5" DSB to my new AGA 180 gallon, but the overflows have three rows of slots to admit water. The bottom row is only 4" above the bottom of the tank, so a 5" DSB would submerge them. This isn't a major problem in itself, but does anyone know if it will ...

I had a 20 litre white/transparent plastic bottle outside on my porch under cover filled with old water from my tank, it had been sitting there for maybe a week or 2. This afternoon I want to empty the bottle for my trip out to collect some new sea water, but I noticed it was very ...

I have heard mixed reviews about bumble bee snails in the reef aquaria. Are they fine to have, or would it be something I should avoid?

| Green water--- UV needed ??????? | 08 May 2004 15:01 GMT | 4 |
Whenever I do a water change, the water that I remove always has a hint of green. I've been using carbon/phosphate removers on and off, but this doesn't seem to get rid of the green.

What's the opinion of the group on this method of reefing. There are a few Aussies doing the zeolite thing now and it appears to be going well for them so far. I used PO4- a few years ago by these guys and I'd imagine that the
