How can I accelerate the growth of that yummy green stuff ? I currently have
it in white 5 litre buckets and one 33watt fluro over the top, it grows
well, but slow. If I empty 1/2 a bucket into the tank and top the bucket
back off with tank water it takes about 1 week to get back to ...

what is the accuracy of measuring Ca++, Mg++,
Strontium, alkalinity, phosphates, ammonia,
nitrites, nitrates - not mentioning pH tests?

anyone use any night lights as I remember someone telling me there are very
few dark nights on a reef.  it's just my algae seems OK when the lights are
on but first thing in the morning the brown scum is back on the rocks and
gravel.  I have 8 red legged hermits but no turbo ...

I have a 25G(30x12x16) with FluvalPlus3 filter, 1x20W light ... it's
presently set up as freshwater
I also have a brand new 75G(48x18x20) with Fluval404 filter and 3x40W light
... it's empty now.

I have a H. magnifica that periodically wanders, including time spent on the
glass.  Not a good look. I've tried to make a nice reef for it and varied
the 175 10000K MH location, to no avail.  Yesterday it was on the glass,

I have noticed my PH going down from the normal 8.2 at 10AM to
8.4 around 11PM for the past 4 years. But over the past year
my readings have slowly gone down  to 8.0 at 10am to 8.2 at 10PM
over the last 6 months its more like 7.8 at 10am to 8.0 at 10PM. I

How precise measurement does it allow you to do?
I have RHS-10ATC and it has 1 division per 1 ppt,
total 100 divisions in the range from 0 to 100ppt.

I haven't had much success with crabs.  I bought 2 emerald crabs, a red
coral crab, and 12 blue-legged hermits yesterday and they are already

Can anyone explain to me why there are conflicting ideas regarding
bristleworms in a reef tank? Some articles I read categorize them as
problem critters and I have seen traps to remove them, then I see
places selling them as part of a janitor package. Why the difference
