Need Info on Fighting Conchs22 Jun 2004 03:52 GMT4
I recently bought some reinforcements for my clean up crew and decided to
add a fighting conch to my 75gal reef.
The conch quickly became my favorite critter in the tank.
Within an hour though, one of my Green Leg Hermits decided to attack it.
Ceramic Noodles or Bio Balls20 Jun 2004 22:07 GMT2
I am having a go at making a new sump. And at this stage I have a question.
I want to use a small amount of noodles or balls after the pre filter
(sponge), and after choosing the style to go for the next question is should
they be fully submerged, or 50/50 or not at all ?.

Seattle area reefers... any LFS or clubs?20 Jun 2004 10:27 GMT2
Would anyone care to recommend any LFS's in the (northern) Seattle area?   I
would particularly like to find a store that carries a good selection of
live rock and sand.
I would also like to find a good club (for reefers) to join if there are any
florescents anyone?19 Jun 2004 22:29 GMT3
I made the switch to MH a couple of years ago and the reef I had suddenly
went downhill. corals and coralline algae all died off.  then in October I
started a new smaller reef tank and had some success until I replaced an old
bulb with a new one and now like a few others the ...

Hi there, I have a Regal Tang Fish which has recently been looking
less than lively! I checked my water and discovered my nitrate levels
were too high. I am now conducting weekly water changes to get the
level down and he is looking better in terms of colour however is not
Chart/Table of fish sizes?19 Jun 2004 19:26 GMT2
Has anyone seen a table of fish sizes?  I've searched google high and low to no
avail.  Many of the sites list all the fish, and then you can click on each
individual's details to get the maximum length.  I'm trying to find something
that would be easier to use at a glance.  I'd ...
RO/DI19 Jun 2004 19:13 GMT9
I have a Kent Maxxima HI-S RO/DI   . I changed the 3 cartridges and let all
the air out but over the next couple days every time I get water the level
in the resin cartridge drops lower and lower ( It appears any new water
going through the system does not contact the resin beads).  ...
Is 8mg/l ammonia normal or not?19 Jun 2004 19:10 GMT5
No, not in the tank... in the shipping bag with snails.
I have ordered 100 small astrea snails and they crammed
them into small bag with 1/2 water. The bag was basically
1/3 full of snails sitting on each other...
Which RO Unit19 Jun 2004 19:09 GMT4
I have just started my first marine tank with tap water and a few damsels to
cycle the water. I am thinking of buying an RO unit. Will any RO unit do or
does it have to be one specially for marine use? I was thinking of this one

magazine subscription question19 Jun 2004 15:20 GMT11
I have been a long time FAMA subscriber and the subscription runs out this
year.
I am not into fresh water at all and am now looking to redeploy those
subscription funds to a more saltwater specific/reef specific magazine.  I
Not-frequent water changes...19 Jun 2004 07:56 GMT10
How often and how much water do you change?
Have you experiment with not changing water?
What systems were they and how were they doing
without periodical water change?

Who ate my brain?17 Jun 2004 22:30 GMT3
I have a 75 gallon fish/reef tank that's been up for 6 months.  I added
corals for the first time about 1 month ago.  Today, I came home and a
lobe of my Trachophyllia open brain coral on the sand had been - it
looks like - chewed off.  The lobe was down to white skeleton in ...
Powder Blue Tang - feeding17 Jun 2004 06:10 GMT1
My Powder Blue is growing nicely but will only eat Nori.
I've tried every type of frozen food I can think of - it might pick at some
occasionally but with no enthusiasm (even the types with algae in)
It picks at dried algae (Julian Sprungs mixed flakes), again not enough to
