advice please - lighting and deep sand beds07 Jun 2004 10:57 GMT2
A couple of years ago I set up a reef tank which just wasn't successful.
Fish did well, but corals only limped along at best.
Finally I tore it down and turned it into a fresh-water set up that's
thriving.

Marine Aquarium Newbie07 Jun 2004 03:51 GMT1
I have recently purchased my first marine tank, 63 gallons give or take, and
it is about 10 days into its cycle.  I live very close to the ocean so it is
relatively easy for me to hunt around and pick up interesting little
creatures along the water line and in rock pools at low tide ...
Read Sea Xenia stressed with temperature shock07 Jun 2004 01:01 GMT24
I was experimenting with my DIY chiller and I made water too cold :-(
I has dropped from 86F to 72F over night :-( Now is back to 78F

Almost all animals look fine, fish/corals do not show any stress...

mangroves anyone ?????06 Jun 2004 09:59 GMT7
I've been having a few problems with algae in my tank even if the tests say
its between 10-15ppm. this really got bad after replacing my MH bulb so I've
set up a 24/7 lighting system in my sump and am contemplating whether to go
with a lot of calerpa or maybe a couple of mangroves.

Hi;
I am building/upgrading my hood to take a 250w Metal Halide.  The T8s
currently in it are about 4" from the water's surface, protected from
splashes by a glass cover.

My Turbo Snails put a lot of eggs in the corner of the tank ... in one
corner I must have 30 eggs or more ...
Someone told me that the liquid in the eggs can harm the silicon glue of the
corner of the tank, and that I shouldn't allow the eggs to grow there ...
